    摘要: A wheel pulling apparatus and method for removing vehicle wheels by pushing against the mounting studs of a motor vehicle wheel assembly. The invention is designed to remove or break uni-mount wheels from large wheel assemblies. A push plate is positioned onto the wheel by at least one receiver. At least two threaded grappling hooks are affixed to the wheel, and the threaded portion of the grappling hooks are slid through slots in the push plate. Washers are inserted and nuts are tightened onto the threaded portion. The nuts are then alternately tightened causing the push plate to snug onto mounting studs and to pull the wheel from the wheel assembly.

    摘要: An apparatus (10) for inflating larger tubeless tires (80), such as those utilized on farm tractors, includes a segmented manifold (104) which is expandable radially to accommodate different sizes of tires. The segmented manifold (104) includes outlet holes (36) from which pressurized gas may exit to inflate the tire (80). The holes (36) have centerlines which make angles generally between 40.degree. and 75.degree. with a plane containing the manifold (104). The angled holes (36) direct the pressurized gases exiting the manifold in optimum directions to expand the tire sidewall against the wheel flange (92) to assist in sealing the tire beads against the wheel (82).

The seating tool includes a plurality N of relatively inflexible arcuate segments each having a head end, a tail end, and a curved inner surface, N being equal to three or more. The arcuate segments are positioned in a head-to-tail configuration to form a closed approximately circular hoop in which the head end of each segment is in overlapping sliding relationship to the tail end of the adjacent segment. The seating tool also includes a plurality N of threaded tightening mechanisms which are connected to the hoop in the vicinity of respective regions of overlap to vary the arcuate lengths of such regions and thereby apply a symmetrically distributed compression force to a tire positioned within the hoop.

    摘要: A mount and demount head configured as a housing affixed to a shaft of an OEM tire machine with a semicircular shaped shaft affixed to the housing. The shaft has a bulbous protrusion on a bottom end of the shaft with specific tapers. The shaft and the bulbous end have a flattened portion for following the contour of the rim. On the upper side of the bulbous end is the narrow semicircular shaft with a tapered top end, tapered to a widened shaft, which is affixed to the housing. A non-metallic insert is preferably inserted into a void in the flattened portion of the narrow semicircular shaft and bulbous end to protect the rim surface. Clamp adapters are used to clamp and hold small wheel assemblies whereby the clamp adapters are inserted over the OEM clamps to extend the clamp capability of the OEM tire machine.

A first embodiment includes a cross shaped guide with clamp adapters that glide in unison to engage and disengage the small wheel assembly via a rim hooking structure that extends the reach of the OEM tire clamps. Each clamp adapter is set over the OEM tire clamps and is engaged or closed via an engagement clip and opened or disengaged via a disengagement clip disposed on each clamp adapter. Another embodiment includes individual clamp adapters that are slid over the OEM tire clamps to extend the reach of the OEM tire clamps. A stop hook is disposed on the clamp adapters to engage a clamp hook on the OEM tire clamp when the tire machine is activated which engages a raised adapter hook on each clamp adapter to the small wheel assembly rim edge.

The tool can be used for all types of tire and wheel types. One tool is for large truck and trailer tires and a second too is for light truck, trailer and automobile tires. A third tool is designed for low profile, stiff sidewall tires and includes a telescoping structure to raise and lower the dual hooks. A forth embodiment is for demounting a first and second bead using a fixed pivot hook, sized prying feet and a telescoping assembly for pulling the bead from the wheel assembly.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for centering a tire on a wheel for concentrically mounting the tire on the wheel. The tire and wheel assembly are placed on an arched member which gravitationally centers assembly on the arched member. Further, the arched member is also a rest for the tire sidewall to seal the bead of the tire on the wheel. A tire stand for handling, positioning and assisting in seating a bead is also provided. The tire stand also has an arched member to center the tire on the wheel. Two forks cradle a vertically positioned tire to initially position the tire and wheel assembly over the arched member. The tire stand is configured to be tilted to a horizontal position-with the tire and wheel assembly inserted, thereby centering the assembly on the arched member. A beading device can then be activated to the concentric tire and wheel assembly.

    摘要: A tool for pulling a first and second tire bead off of a wheel assembly. The tool is inserted between the bead to be removed and the rim edge, and engages the bead to be removed with a grappling structure and pulls the bead over the rim edge by a linear drive assembly disposed inside a tubular structure affixed to the grappling structure. Simultaneously an angled stay is positioned on the rim which is pressed in an opposite direction of the pulling motion. A second embodiment pulls the rim from a second bead of a tire. A hook is inserted between the rim edge and the second tire bead and hooks onto the lower rim edge. A linear drive assembly provides a pulling motion to pull the rim over the second bead, while a push plate simultaneously pushes the tire side wall in an opposite direction from the pulling motion.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for seating tubeless tires, particularly large tubeless truck tires, on a rim. A tank having a volume related to the internal volume of the largest tire to be seated is charged with compressed air at a pressure which is within the range of pressures considered safe for general purpose vehicular applications. A discharge barrel having an internal passage with an area of from 8 to 20 square centimeters is disposed between the tank and the bead of the tire and positioned so that air discharged therefrom strikes the bead from a direction roughly perpendicular to the plane of the bead. An approximately full-flow valve, positioned in flow control relationship to the barrel, is opened abruptly to direct a pneumatic pulse having a fast-rising leading edge against the bead. The bead then seats on the rim as a result of the combined effect of the motion imparted thereto by the impact of the pulse and the air injected into the tire in connection with that impact.
