    摘要: A technique distributes localized stress acting on a tubular. The tubular is formed with an inner layer and an outer layer that is compliant relative to the inner layer. A force distribution material is disposed between the inner layer and the outer layer to spread any concentrated loads acting against the tubular. The compliant nature of the outer layer causes it to distort against the force distribution material when acted on by a concentrated external load. The outer compliant layer and the force distribution material cooperate to isolate and protect the inner layer from displacements of the surrounding subterranean material.

    摘要: A mouthguard for use by athletes, including a dual tray assembly molded together. The first tray is molded from a hard plastic such as an ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer, and has a portion that engage the cusps of the lower jaw molars to prevent the tray from moving backward on impact. A second tray is molded on to the first tray using a soft plastic or gel like material, such as a high percentage vinyl acetate copolymers of ethylene vinyl acetate, that softens at slightly elevated temperatures that a user can easily tolerate. The first time the mouthguard is used, it is heated in warm water, then the user puts it in his or her mouth and bites down to cause the second tray to conform to the upper teeth. When in use, the ridges on the first tray engage the teeth of the lower jaw to prevent movement of the lower jaw on impact.

    摘要: A customized dental treatment tray comprising a thermoplastic material such as ULDPE is formed from a preformed tray or sheet using a person's own teeth as a template. A preformed dental tray or sheet comprising a material such as ULDPE is heated to become plastically deformable and placed over at least a portion of the person's teeth in order to form an impression of the person's teeth and yield an intermediate customized dental tray. Upon cooling sufficiently, the intermediate tray is removed from the persons' mouth and trimmed as needed to yield a finished customized treatment tray corresponding to the person's teeth. The performed tray or sheet preferably comprises ULDPE, which yields a highly flexible and resilient final tray, although they may also contain other polymers or blends. The customized dental treatment tray is useful for teeth bleaching and other dental treatments known in the art.

    摘要: A one touch valve for activating fluid flow between an inlet conduit and an outlet conduit is disclosed. The valve has a flow cylinder defining an inflow chamber in fluid communication with the inlet conduit and an outflow chamber in fluid communication with the outlet conduit. The flow cylinder includes an end plate and an intermediate plate having a center collar with an aperture. A flexible diaphragm is provided with a sealing surface in contact with the collar to create a seal. The diaphragm has an edge coupled to the intermediate plate and a small diameter hole providing fluid contact between the inflow chamber and an intermediate chamber which is defined by the intermediate plate of the flow cylinder. A plunger is placed on the diaphragm to create a seal with the opposite surface of the diaphragm from the sealing surface. A shaft has one end connected to the plunger and extends through the aperture of the diaphragm. A spring is located between the end plate of the flow cylinder and the contact surface of the plunger. Pushing the shaft causes the plunger to separate from the diaphragm creating fluid pressure on the diaphragm contact surface to push the plunger toward the end plate end, compressing the spring, and causing the diaphragm to separate from the collar causing fluid to flow from the inflow chamber through the aperture to the outflow chamber. Releasing the shaft causes the spring to decompress, forcing the plunger and diaphragm away from the end plate re-establishing the seal between the sealing surface with the collar preventing fluid flow from the intermediate chamber to the outflow chamber.

    摘要: A pistol grip hose nozzle is disclosed which allows proportional water control in accordance with the position of a rotatable valve. The hose nozzle has a handgrip section with an inlet water passage and an outlet section with an outlet water passage. One end of the handgrip section is connectable with a hose. The other end of the inlet water passage ends in a valve seat with an aperture. The valve seat contains a valve having a flow control cylinder. The flow control cylinder has a non-circular opening which when aligned with the aperture allows water to flow to the outlet water passage. The flow control cylinder is attached to a control knob which allows a user to grip the hand grip portion and rotate the control knob and the flow control cylinder to vary the water flow. The non-circular opening allows the amount of water flow to the outlet water passage to be linearly proportional to the rotational position of the control knob.
