    Abstract: A method and system for managing images and associated geographic location data in a mobile device generates images using an integrated camera. After generating an image, the system determines a geographic location associated with the image. The system then stores the image, the associated geographic location data, and a record of the association in the mobile device's storage component. The system associates supplemental information, such as telephone number, category, and street address, with the image. The system provides one or more display modes for displaying the image and the associated information, including a list mode for displaying multiple images and portions of the associated data and a detail mode for displaying a selected image and the full set of associated data. The system may also provide a map display mode for displaying locations associated with one or more images on a map of a geographical area.

    Abstract: A method is for producing the bump mapping effect for a 3D object in a computer graphic. First, a shading vector is produced at one point of the surface of the 3D object. A shift coordinate with respect to this point is determined, according to the shading vector. According to the shift coordinate, a rotational calculation matrix is set up. Then, a diffuse color value with respect to this point is computed, which is equal to the difference between an adjacent rotation color value to this point and an averaged color value, wherein the averaged color value is defined as the sum and average of the color channels for R, G, and B with respect to this point, and the adjacent rotation color value is defined as a sum of the averaged color value with respect to a number of the adjacent points and the coefficient product with respect to the adjacent points in the rotational calculation matrix. Then, the emboss image value at this point is computed. The color channels of R, G, and B of the emboss image value are respectively equal to the product of the color channels of R, G, and B at this point being subtracted by the diffuse color value and the coefficient of the emboss effect. By repeating the foregoing steps, the emboss image value at each point of the surface of the 3D object is computed.

    Abstract: A method for automatic fingerprint classification is dependent on the number of core points and the ridge flow direction around the core points. The speed of the classification process is improved by pre-processing the fingerprint image to identify the background blocks and the fingerprint blocks, so that the process only deal with the fingerprint blocks. A block directional image is constructed for the fingerprint blocks. The block directional image is then used to determine the core point(s) of the fingerprint. Based on the number of core point and the trend of the ridge direction around each core point, fingerprints can be classified into 8 classes based on a set of predetermined rules.

    Abstract: A method for an image-based rendering of light in a virtual volume is disclosed, which can provide various lighting effects in the two-dimensional image of a three-dimensional object.
