A system and method for translating data from a source language to a target language is provided wherein machine generated target translation of a source sentence is compared to a database of human generated target sentences. If a matching human generated target sentence is found, the human generated target sentence may be used instead of the machine generated sentence, since the human generated target sentence is more likely to be a well-formed sentence than the machine generated sentence. The system and method does not rely on a translation memory containing pairs of sentences in both source and target languages, and minimizes the reliance on a human translator to correct a translation generated by machine translation.

The text may be in the form of Web pages, in the form of hypertext mark-up language (HTML) files, or other formats. The portal at least partially translates the data and facilitates the selection of a vendor or vendors to complete the translation process. The portal makes use of a database containing previously completed translations, which database is utilized to at least partially translate new requests for translations, and thereby reduces the workload of the vendors selected to complete the process.

The extension component includes extension process elements and functionality that are configured to operate in connection with a subset of core process elements so as to execute a particular business process management function on the subset. The extension process elements and functionality are entirely separate from and are not a part of the process flow containing the subset of core process elements such that the business process management function does not affect or influence the core process flow. Examples of business process management functions configurable for such purposes include service level agreements, business process monitoring and KPI collection, policy compliance and trend prediction.
