Abstract: A hybrid pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) composition includes (i) a solvent phase comprising a first acrylic PSA dissolved in an organic solvent, an alcohol, and optionally water; and (ii) an emulsion phase comprising a second, emulsified acrylic PSA. In another aspect, a metalized film laminate includes a metalized film layer, a hybrid PSA layer, and an ink-containing polymeric film layer. The two-phase hybrid PSA system effectively addresses both metal tear and ink pick problems associated with conventional metalized film laminates.

Abstract: NR/EPDM co-cured rubber blends with sulfur and organic peroxide used together as the co-curing agents to achieve ozone resistant, high tensile property rubber compositions. Sulfur accelerators MBTS and DPG are also employed in the curing process. NR/EPDM blends of from 70/30 to 55/45 are cured in an air cure process with sulfur in the range of 0.64-1.6 phr and with organic peroxide in the range of 0.6-1.6 phr.

Abstract: This invention relates to an adhesive composition comprising: microgels of at least one acrylic polymer; and an interlinking polymer covalently bonding at least some of said microgels to each other through said interlinking polymer. In one embodiment, the adhesive further comprises at least one non-gelled polymer, said interlinking polymer covalently bonding at least some of said microgels to said non-gelled polymer. In one embodiment, the invention relates to an aqueous dispersion, comprising: water; microgels of at least one acrylic polymer dispersed in said water; and at least one interlinking polymer capable of covalently bonding said microgels to each other through said interlinking polymer. In one embodiment, the dispersion further comprises at least one non-gelled polymer, and the interlinking polymer is capable of covalently bonding said microgels to said non-gelled polymer. This invention also relates to an adhesive composition made by heating the foregoing aqueous dispersion at a sufficient temperature and for an effective period of time to covalently bond at least some of said microgels to each other through said interlinking polymer, and optionally covalently bond at least some of said microgels to the foregoing non-gelled polymer. In one embodiment, the adhesive is a pressure sensitive adhesive. These adhesives may be characterized by high peel energy, high tack and high shear holding power.

Abstract: Improved plasticizer resistant pressure sensitive hot melt adhesive compositions are prepared by incorporating in the adhesive polymer, tackifying resin and oil 5 to 70% by weight of the adhesive of a core shell modifier comprising a crosslinked rubbery core and a glassy thermoplastic polymer shell, the core being crosslinked by the presence therein of up to 5% by weight of a polyunsaturated monomer having two or more non-conjugated sites of unsaturation of unequal reactivity.
