Abstract:
A filter and a method of filtering a high frequency electrical signal using photonic components is disclosed. The filter has a serially fiber-coupled laser source, a modulator, a filter, and a photodetector. The electrical signal is applied to the modulator. The modulated light propagates through the filter which is constructed to pass not only a modulated sideband, but also at least a fraction of light at the carrier frequency of the laser. The photodetector detects a signal at the beat frequency between the carrier and sideband signals, after both signals have propagated through the filter. As a result, a separate optical branch for light at the carrier frequency is not required, which considerably simplifies the filter construction and makes it more stable and reliable.
Abstract:
An apparatus for transferring a fluid product between a fluid transport vessel and a storage vessel includes a tubular arrangement for conveying the fluid between the two vessels. The tubular arrangement includes a flexible transfer pipe hanging freely between ends in its transferring position and connected to a manifold of the transport vessel. Each of the ends of the transfer pipe has a pivoted connection with a vertical pin to avoid torsional stresses in the transfer pipe. The invention is useful to transferring liquefied natural gas.
Abstract:
A system for transferring a fluid product between a carrier, such as a vessel, and an installation, in particular a fixed installation, for processing and storing the product. The system includes a tubular structure for conveying the product between the vessel and the installation, a device for connection to a manifold of the vessel and a flexible transfer pipe connected to the installation. The connection device and the pipe are connectable to each other at free ends for transferring the fluid product between the vessel and the installation. At least the free end of the flexible transfer pipe includes a product handler for displacing the free end between a position for connection to the connection device and a disengaged position for storage. The invention enables the transfer of cryogenic liquefied natural gas.
Abstract:
A device for transferring a product between a ship and a fixed installation. The device is supported at one end by a support structure and the other end is capable of being connected to the ship's manifold. The support structure includes a boom carrying a transfer pipe, rotatable about a vertical axis above the ship, and a deformable transfer device, one end of which is connected to the pipe, and the other end is mobile between a stowed position proximate the boom and a position for connection to the ship's manifold. The invention is useful for transferring liquefied natural gas.

Abstract:
An arrangement for connecting and disconnecting two pipe sections in a fluid transfer system. Each section includes a butterfly valve with a disk pivotally mounted inside, rotating about a swivel axis between a closed position closing the cross-section of the fluid flow and an open position opening the cross-section of the fluid flow. The swivel axes extend perpendicular to the pipe axis and parallel to each other. The swivel axes of the disks are eccentric relative to the axes of the sections to reduce the space between the disks in their closed position, when the sections are connected. The invention is useful for transferring liquefied natural gas.
Abstract:
A system for transfer of a liquid, such as liquefied natural gas, from a ship such as a liquefied natural gas carrier and a floating or fixed production and/or storage unit. The system has articulated arms and has n degrees of freedom, generally six, provided by rotating joint joints. At least one of the rotating joints is located on the ship.
