摘要： A system and related methods for processing images in a head up display (HUD) system of a vehicle are provided. The images are processed by adjusting the image data in a manner that compensates for different shape and contour characteristics of the windshield of the vehicle. One processing method begins by providing a plurality of image compensation templates, each being applicable to alter display characteristics of image data. During operation of the HUD system the method selects one of the plurality of image compensation templates for use as a compensating template, adjusts original image data in accordance with the compensating template to obtain adjusted image data, and renders the adjusted image data on a HUD display source.

摘要： The invention generally relates to an integrated head up displaying (HUD) device including a housing that houses an active-matrix image projecting system and its accompanying electronics, and an optical combiner (for providing a see-through image thereon) connected to the housing via a retractable arm attached at one end to the main body and holds the HUD optical panel at its other end. In particular, the telescopically retractable arm allows the assembly to extend or retract for a desirable combiner height. Further, the LED backlighting array is placed within a reflective light chamber which is lined with a safe, light-weight, low cost, specular, reflective sheet for high reflectivity. The non-conductive, reflective sheet also covers the LED printed circuit board.

摘要： A vehicle head-up instrument display including a light emitting image source for producing imaging illumination, optical apparatus for directing the imaging illumination to the inside surface of a vehicle windshield, and a combiner comprising a portion of the windshield or a coating applied to the windshield partially reflects the imaging illumination to produce a virtual image viewable by the driver. The image source and optical apparatus are enclosed in a housing having an elliptical cylindrical transparent cover for transmitting the imaging illumination to the windshield and for directing sunlight and skylight reflections therefrom away from the driver's eyes.

摘要： Glare and spurious reflections of external light on the image source of a head up display are eliminated by a circular polarizer in the optical path of the display. The head up display includes a mirror system for projecting a pattern from the image source onto a vehicle windshield where it is reflected to the operator, wherein polarization is effected at the windshield reflection. The circular polarizer includes a linear polarizer and a quarter wave plate arranged to extinguish the external incident light after reflection from the image source. The linear polarizer axis is aligned with the polarization axis at the windshield to optimize the brightness of the display.
