Abstract:
A cable assembly (11) has a conduit (12) and a core element (14) passing through the conduit (12). A terminal assembly (15) is secured to one end of the core element (14). The subject invention incorporates both an interlock device (46) and an adjustment device on the same cable assembly (11). The interlock device (46) is disposed adjacent the terminal assembly (15) and is movable between a release position allowing relative movement between the terminal assembly (15) and the interlock device (46) and an engaged position preventing the relative movement between the terminal assembly (15) and the interlock device (46). The adjustment device includes an adjustment housing (20) partially disposed about a base portion (28) for allowing axial adjustment of the base portion (28) to tension the core element (14). The adjustment device also includes a movable lock (36) slideably supported by the adjustment housing (20) and movable between an engaged position interconnecting the adjustment housing (20) to the base portion (28) and a disengaged position allowing the axial adjustment and the tensioning of the core element (14).
Abstract:
This disclosure relates to a gear wheel and method for making the same which is used in an assembly including a flexible motion transmitting core element utilized to transmit motion in a curved path. The gear wheel includes a circular metal wheel comprised of two substantially identical metal halves mated together to define a peripheral groove with helical teeth disposed therein for engaging helical windings on the core element and a plastic hub portion molded partially about the circular metal wheel including an axial bore therethrough for receiving a support member or drive shaft.
Abstract:
A motion transmitting remote control assembly including a conduit and a motion transmitting core element movably supported by the conduit with the ends thereof extending from the ends of the conduit. Adjustment means is disposed adjacent a first end of the conduit for automatically allowing the conduit to move longitudinally relative thereto in response to a predetermined force being applied thereto. More specifically, the first end of the conduit has a fitting attached thereto with ratchet teeth thereon which coact with ratchet teeth in a support member adapted for attachment to support structure whereby the effective length of the conduit may be adjusted by applying a predetermined force to the core element to in turn adjust the distance the core element extends from the conduit.
Abstract:
A MOTION TRANSMITTING REMOTE CONTROL ASSEMBLY INCLUDING A FLEXIBLE CONDUIT WITH FITTINGS DISPOSED AT EACH END AND MOVABLY SUPPORTING A WIRE-LKE CORE ELEMENT. THE CORE ELEMENT INCLUDES AN ANCHOR MEANS COMPRISING A METAL SLUG OR A BENT END PORTION WHICH IS SNAPPED INTO
ENGAGEMENT WITH AND RETAINED IN A SNAP-IN RECEIVING PORTION OF A PLASTIC TERMINAL MEANS WHICH IS ADAPTED TO BE ATTACHED TO A CONTROL MEMBER.
