摘要： An improvement in bicycle saddles of the type having a supported base which is covered with a plastic cover and has resilient padding inserted between the base and cover. Also, the base is the well known type which has an open nose. The improvement includes tongue and groove interlocking structure for locking the nose of the cover to the nose of the base, i. e., thus obviating the use of any other type fastener. The resilient pad insert urges the tongue and groove into a positive interlocking arrangement. The rear of the cover is attached to the base in any typical manner.

摘要： A saddle intended to be mounted on a single saddle post of a bicycle. The saddle includes a horizontally extending lower truss having usual structure for attaching the truss to the post of the bicycle, and an upper frame assembly supporting a resilient cover. The frame assembly is pivotally attached forwardly and resiliently attached rearwardly thereof to the lower truss and includes interposed leaf springs which act in conjunction with the resiliency of the cover to cushion the rider, i.e., the leaf springs contiguously engage the underneath surface of the cover, and the weight of the rider flexes both the leaf springs and the cover intermediate the length thereof.

A METHOD OF PRODUCING THE CYCLE SADDLE IS DISCLOSED WHICH INCLUDES THE STEPS OF PROVIDING A FRAME WITH A HOLE AND A PLURALITY OF APERTURES OR ELONGATED SLOTS THERETHROUGH, PROVIDING A COVER PROVIDED WITH A DEPENDING SKIRT HAVING A PLURALITY OF PLASTIC LUGS AND HAVING BEADING AROUND THE LOWER EDGE THEREOF, PLACING THE COVER ON THE FRAME WITH THE LUGS EXTENDING THROUGH THE APERTURES OR SLOTS AND WITH THE BEADING GRIPPING THE LOWER EDGE OF THE SKIRT PORTIONS OF THE FRAME, HEATING THE ENDS OF THE LUGS TO PROVIDE HEADS TO HOLD THE COVER IN PLACE, PROVIDING A SPACE BETWEEN THE TOP OF THE COVER AND THE FRAME, AND INJECTING COMPONENTS OF LIQUID MATERIAL THROUGH THE HOLE INTO THE SPACE BETWEEN THE FRAME AND THE COVER, WHICH COMPONENTS REACT AND FORM THE FOAM CUSHION. HOWEVER, THIS MOFIFIED CYCLE SADDLE HAS THE ADDITIONAL SECURING MEANS IN THE FORM OF A PLURALITY OF SPACED TABS PROJECTING INWARDLY AND DOWNWARDLY FROM THE SKIRT PORTION OF THE FRAME FOR ENGAGING THE INNER FLANGE OF THE

BEADING ADJACENT THE DISTAL EDGE THEREOF TO ANCHOR THE INNER FLANGE TO THE DEPENDING SKIRT OF THE FRAME. IN ADDITION, THE MODIFIED EMBODIMENT HAS THE CUSHION MEANS THEREOF BONDED BOTH TO THE COVER AND THE FRAME TO FORM A UNITARY SADDLE. 摘要： A cycle saddle is disclosed which includes a frame and a plastic cover mounted on top of the frame, with a foam cushion being provided between the cover and the frame. There is disclosed means for securing the cover which includes integrally fused portions of the cover extending through the apertures in the frame to anchor the cover onto the frame. A method is disclosed for producing the cycle saddle which includes the steps of providing a cover provided with a depending skirt having a substantially smooth inner surface portion and provided with a flange integrally attached to said depending skirt at the lower edge thereof having a substantially smooth surface opposing the inner surface portion of the skirt and defining with the inner surface portion an upwardly extending groove, placing the cover on the frame with the depending skirt portions of the frame extending into the groove and with the apertures being disposed in the groove between the inner surface of the flange and the inner surface portion of the skirt, relatively moving the inner surface of the flange and the inner surface portion of the skirt into adjacency through the apertures, and applying ultrasonic means to the skirt and the flange adjacent the apertures for causing portions of the skirt portions and the flange to fuse into integrally fused portions extending through the apertures to anchor the cover onto the frame.

摘要： A truss assembly for use to support a bicycle seat. The truss assembly includes a post, a bracket, an upper washer and a lower washer. The upper portion of the post extends through apertures in the washers and an elongated slot in the bracket, and the upper portion is provided with an enlarged head on the upper end thereof to hold said washers, said bracket and said post in a tight immovable relationship. The method of forming the truss includes cold working the upper portion of the post by applying a force thereto to spread the metal thereof laterally tightly against the lateral walls of the portions of said bracket defining said slot and to form an enlarged cold head on the upper end of said upper portion to tightly clamp and form an immovable assembly of said washers, said bracket and said post.

摘要： A saddle for cycles including a saddle base, support structure attached to the base for supporting the base from a cycle, a cover disposed over the base, and a resilient pad preferably having a first upper portion of relatively low density and having a second lower portion of relatively high density, both portions interposed between the base and the cover. The crown of the base includes a pair of rearwardly disposed concavities which are suitably placed therein to correspond to the location of the ischial bone structure of a rider seated on the saddle. The crown of the base also includes a forwardly disposed concavity which is suitably placed thereon to correspond to the location of the genitals of a rider seated on the saddle. The cover preferably does not normally conform to these concavities, hence when the saddle is not influenced by the weight of a rider, the distracting appearance of the concavities of the base is not apparent. The crown of the base preferably tapers downwardly from the forwardmost and rearwardmost ends thereof towards the intermediate portion with the pad and cover conforming the downwardly tapered crown.
