    摘要: A superconducting current limiting device protects an electric circuit from a fault current. The device comprises a magnetically saturable core having saturated and non-saturated states and an input coil for electrically coupling the core to the electric circuit, the input coil drawing a current therethrough so that a magnetic flux is generated in the core due to the current. Further, the core includes a main path for drawing the generated magnetic flux and at least two magnetic paths, a first of the magnetic paths drawing a first portion of the magnetic flux, and a second of the magnetic paths drawing a second portion of the magnetic flux and having a damping element for cancelling at least a fraction of the second portion of the magnetic flux to thereby prevent the core from getting into the saturated state.

    摘要: The present invention provides a current limiting module and a hybrid current limiter using different kinds of superconducting wires. The current limiting module includes a first superconducting wire that is wound in a predetermined direction, and a second superconducting wire that has quench characteristic different from the first superconducting wire and is wound to generate magnetic flux in a direction opposite to magnetic flux induced by the first superconducting wire. According to the present invention, inductance is generated due to unequal supply of fault current. Therefore, it is possible to prevent current from being suddenly increased, and to reduce the number of superconducting wires required to manufacture the current limiting module. Further, the hybrid current limiter does not need to include a separate coil for operating a fast switch.

    摘要: The present invention provides a current limiting module and a hybrid current limiter using different kinds of superconducting wires. The pancake-type bifilar winding module includes (a) a bobbin having (i) a cylindrical main body having a wire insertion groove for winding a superconducting wire in a bifilar manner to have the least inductance, in which the wire insertion groove has a depth greater than the width of the superconducting wire and a radius of curvature greater than a predetermined value, and is structured to guide the superconducting wire from one side to another side of the body, and (ii) a cylindrical supporting base having at least one block fixing notch and being disposed under the main body, (b) the superconducting wire wound in a bifilar manner, maintaining a predetermined tension as it is disposed in the wire insertion groove of the bobbin and curved in the middle portion thereof in the longitudinal direction, and (c) a copper block serving as an electrical terminal, which is installed and fixed to the block fixing notch of the supporting base of the bobbin for joining the superconducting wire with a terminal portion, and joined with the superconducting wire while the superconducting wire maintains a predetermined tension.

    摘要: A fault current limiter is disclosed. The fault current limiter of the present invention includes a current limiting module and a superconducting bypass reactor. The current limiting module includes at least two pancake type bifilar winding modules, which are stacked and connected to each other in series. Each bifilar winding module has a bobbin, a first superconducting wire wound around the bobbin in a bifilar manner, and at least one pair of first metal blocks, which are installed and fixed to the bobbin and attached to the first superconducting wire. The superconducting bypass reactor is formed into a hollow shape so that the current limiting module can be disposed therein. A second superconducting wire is wound around the bypass reactor such that the superconducting bypass reactor is connected in parallel with the current limiting module. As such, because the fault current limiter is provided with the superconducting bypass reactor, when a short-circuit occurs the winding modules are prevented from being damaged by a voltage concentrated in one or several winding modules. Furthermore, the burden on the current limiting module is reduced by dispersing the current. In addition, the present invention can limit a fault current using both the resistance of the current limiting module and the inductance of the bypass reactor.
