摘要： In an embodiment, a copy-guard system is provided that includes a decoding section for decoding digital data, which is encoded and error-correction-coded, from an information recording medium in which key information encoded for the digital data is recorded, an encoded digital data acquisition section for acquiring digital data encoded by error-correcting the digital data decoded by the decoding section, a detection section for detecting an error position and an error symbol value of the encoded digital data, identification information detection section for detecting an identification information representing whether the information recording medium is original or copied and which is replaced with a part of the digital data encoded and error-correction-coded, based on the error position and the error symbol value detected by the detection section, a determination section for determining whether a copy of the information recording medium is protected, and a copy protection section.

摘要： A digital watermark embedding device has an input section which inputs pixel value data of an image which is a target for embedding of watermark information, an embedded position selection section which determines a position in frequency domain into which the watermark information is to be embedded, irrespectively of a frequency component value, a frequency component value variation decision section which determines a variation of a frequency component value at each embedded position determined by the embedded position selection section, a pixel value variation calculation section which calculates a variation of a pixel value at each point in pixel value domain of the image based on the embedded position in frequency domain determined by the embedded position selection section and on the variation of a frequency component value determined by the frequency component value variation decision section, a pixel value conversion section which embeds watermark information by changing corresponding pixel value data of the image in accordance with the variation of a pixel value at each point in pixel value domain calculated by the pixel value variation calculation section, and an output section which outputs pixel value data of the image into which watermark information has been embedded.

摘要： A system (300, 500) for scrambling digital samples (115, 200, 250, 260, 270) of multimedia data, including audio and video data samples, such that the content of the samples is degraded but still recognizable, or otherwise provided at a desired quality level. The samples may be in any conceivable compressed or uncompressed digital format, including Pulse Code Modulation (PCM) samples, samples in floating point representation, samples in companding schemes (e.g., μ-law and A-law), and other compressed bit streams. The quality level may be associated with a particular signal to noise ratio, or quality level that is determined by objective and/or subjective tests, for example. A number of LSBs can be scrambled in successive samples in successive frames (FRAME A, FRAME B, FRAME C). Moreover, the parameters for scrambling may change from frame to frame. Furthermore, all or part of the scrambling key (310) can be embedded (340) in the scrambled data and recovered at a decoder (400, 600) to be used in descrambling. After descrambling, the scramble key is no longer recoverable because the scramble key itself is scrambled by the descrambler.
