摘要： A communication system serving as a transmitter terminal and a receiver terminal for communications with a second communication system via a communication line, the communication system includes a storage section for data storage; a communication section for data communications, the communication section being adapted for reception and transmission of data and size information indicative of the size of the data with respect to the second communication system; a detection section for detecting a free space in the storage section; a comparing section for comparing the data size contained in the size information with the size of the free space in the storage section; a calculating section for, if the storage section is short of free space for accommodation of the data size, calculating a waiting period required for recovery from the shortage of the free space in the storage section; and a timer section for timing the lapse of the waiting period.

摘要： A document feeding device for feeding documents to a document scanning section where the image of the document is scanned. The document feeding device has first trasnport rollers for feeding each document to the scanning section, discharge rollers for discharging from the scanning section the document thus supplied, a reversing transport path for passing and turning over the document sent from the discharge rollers, and second transport rollers for feeding the document that has been turned over through the reversing transport path to the document reading section. The reversing transport path is designed to change the length of the document transport path depending on the size of the document. With the arrangement, reversing operation and scanning operation of the documents can be performed effectively. Further, without increasing the momentary transporting speed of the document transport mechanism, this arrangement makes it possible to feed documents at comparatively high speed from an entire apparatus standpoint.

摘要： A conventional facsimile machine re-dials by using another telephone line after an elapse of a predetermined period of time since when a communication error after a line connection has occurred, so that it takes a predetermined period of time to re-dial by using the other telephone line, and hence a receiving end may receive data transmitted from another facsimile machine during this period. In order to prevent that, a facsimile machine of the present invention comprises: a plurality of line connecting means, each of which has a telephone line for transmitting/receiving data; a line selecting section for selecting a telephone line to be used when a plurality of telephone lines are connected; and an auto-dial sending section for changing over the telephone line currently selected by the line selecting section to another telephone line so as to make a call immediately, when the receiving end is busy.

摘要： An apparatus, which has a second memory for storing data and which calls for the stored data from the second memory so as to output the data, is provided with an inputted-time storing means for storing in the means the times at which respective data were stored, a timer for counting time, a compression processing section, and a compressed-time measuring section for storing the times at which the compression processing section carried out its compressing operations. In accordance with information from the inputted-time storing means, the timer and the compressed-time measuring section, the compression processing section detects data whose compressing times have been due from the data stored the second memory, and carries out processes on the selected data in order to increase the remaining amount of the second memory. Thus, it becomes possible to maintain necessary data efficiently using the limited storage capacity of the second memory, without imposing a greater workload on the user.
