    摘要: The present invention relates to methods and arrangements in a network node such as a positioning server and a user equipment of enabling downlink-based positioning of the user equipment which is served by a serving cell. The network node estimates (210) a timing difference between a timing of a neighboring cell and a timing of the serving cell. This is done based on synchronization information associated with the neighboring and serving cells. It then transmits (220) an instruction to perform a positioning measurement to the user equipment. The instruction comprises an identity of the neighboring cell and the estimated timing difference. In this way the UE may find the reference signal when performing the positioning measurements, even when the SFNs of the neighbor cell is not aligned with the SFN of the serving cell.

    摘要: There is provided support mechanisms for at least one adding and removing a cell from operation in a heterogeneous radio network having a first type of basic cell for providing basic radio coverage and a second type of cell associated to a basic cell as a capacity enhancing cell. A capacity enhancing cell is selectively switched on and off (S1); when the capacity enhancing cell is shut down the cell does not exist over the air while cell configuration information is kept and when the capacity enhancing cell is switched on the cell becomes available again over the air interface. An indication of shut-down and a wake-up call message for switch-on of the capacity enhancing cell are communicated (S2) between a base station serving the capacity enhancing cell and a base station serving the basic cell. In this way energy savings can be supported without disrupting service availability.

    摘要: The invention comprises a method for migrating control plane data transport between a control node (5) and a base station (5) controlled by the control node from an old and currently used transport technology, e.g. an ATM based transport option, to a new transport technology, e.g. an IP based transport option. A protocol stack for the new transport technology is created (31) in the control node (5). In a similar manner, a protocol stack for the new transport technology is created (31) in the base station (7). Thereafter, a connection based on the new transport technology is formed (33) between the control node and the base station. Then the new transport technology is used (39) on the formed connection for at least one new control plane message between the control node to the base station. The invention comprises also a device for controlling a migration of control plane data transport between a control node and a base station in accordance with the above-described method and a control node comprising such a device.

    摘要: A radio access network facilitates transmission of a Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Service (MBMS) to user equipments in plural cells served by a radio base station. A radio network controller includes in a first message of a transport channel setup request either an indication that transport sharing is allowed or an identification of a common transport bearer. The radio base station configures a new transport channel mapped to the common transport bearer such that it is stable with respect to other common transport channels. During operation, the radio network controller provides the MBMS data over the common transport bearer and the radio base station retransmits the MBMS data over the common transport channels to the plural cells. If the MBMS data over the common transport bearer arrives outside of time-of-arrival windows of any common transport bearer, then the radio network controller adjusts the transmission accordingly.

A radio network controller node (26) includes in a first message (70) of a Common Transport Channel Setup procedure an indication that sharing of a common transport bearer (60) involved in a session of the Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Service is allowed. A radio base station (28) makes a determination whether to share the common transport bearer (60) among user equipment units (30) situated in plural cells (C) served by the radio base station (28). If the determination is positive, the radio base station (28) includes in a second message (80) of the Common Transport Channel Setup procedure an identification of an already-established channel to be used as the shared common transport bearer. The radio network controller (26) then uses the already-established channel as the shared common transport bearer for transmitting Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Service user data to user equipment units (30) situated in plural cells served by the radio base station.
