Abstract:
When a reading unit reads information of a pattern image for correcting image quality printed on at least either side of a recording medium, a control unit compares the information of the pattern image for correcting image-quality with correction pattern information that is a basis of the pattern image for correcting image quality transferred to the at least either side of the recording medium, and controls an image forming unit based on a result of the comparison to correct image quality on the at least either side of the recording medium.
Abstract:
A power supply control device for a copier of the type having a timer therein is disclosed. The device allows a power supply of the copier to be turned on and off at any desired time which is set through ten keys. Data entered through the ten keys are loaded in a store. The data read out of the store and present time data output from the timer are compared and, as they compare equal, a power supply driver turns on the power supply. Guidance displays are referenced in the event of entering data.
Abstract:
A copying system comprises a first circuit for selecting a copying mode or a service program mode responsive to a manipulation of one or a plurality of keys, a second circuit for setting an operation mode to the service program mode when enabled by the first circuit, and a control device for automatically resetting one of a plurality of predetermined service program modes when the second circuit is disabled by the first circuit. Adjusting data for use in adjusting parts of the copying system in the service program mode are entered from the keys, and the predetermined service program modes are automatically reset when the operation mode is changed from the service program mode to the copying mode.
Abstract:
A machine has a control panel with a plurality of keys controlling various functions. A display exhibits prompts as to the proper operation of the machine. An operator can learn the functions of the keys by manipulating them and observing the resulting prompts. The display additionally exhibits maintenance and (in a diagnostic mode) diagnostic prompts. Sensors respond to various maintenance or diagnostic conditions. Signals from the sensors cause a storage means to supply corresponding prompts to the display to prompt the needed maintenance or diagnostic procedure. When the appropriate procedure has been performed, additional prompts for subsequent procedures will be displayed if appropriate.
Abstract:
An image reading apparatus is disclosed. The image reading apparatus provides plural sensors and a correction unit that corrects displacement of image data caused by intervals among the plural sensors and includes a first draft reading mode whose scanning direction by the sensors is the same as at the time of shading correction and a second draft reading mode whose scanning direction by the sensors is different from at the time of shading correction. The correction unit includes plural paths in which a different number of delay units are disposed in each path and changing over units that change over a connection between the sensors and the paths. The changing over units are changed over between at the time of reading image data and the shading correction in the first draft reading mode and at the time of reading image data in the second draft reading mode.
Abstract:
In a double-sided image forming apparatus and method, back-side images are developed on a first middle transfer belt prior to developing of front-side images on the first middle transfer belt, and the back-side images are transferred to a second middle transfer belt. The number of back-side images allowed to be supported at a time on the second middle transfer belt is determined. The number of back-side images are developed on the first middle transfer belt prior to developing of the same number of front-side images on the first middle transfer belt. The front-side image of the first middle transfer belt and the back-side image of the second middle transfer belt are simultaneously formed on both sides of a copy sheet.

Abstract:
A copier, laser printer or similar image forming apparatus of the type having an intermediate image transfer body in the form of a belt allows documents to be reproduced in a page-sequential paper discharge mode which discharges paper sheets, or recording media, in order of page. When an automatic two-sided copy mode is selected, the apparatus automatically sets up the page-sequential paper discharge mode. Hence, when two sided black-and-white documents and color documents are reproduced together in the automatic two-sided copy mode, paper sheets are driven out of the apparatus in order of page.
Abstract:
An image forming apparatus has a plurality of developing containers for developing an electrostatic latent image of a latent image carrier by toners having colors different from each other except for black; a black developing container for color for storing black toner for color and operated when the developed image on the latent image carrier every color is overlapped and transferred onto a transfer material to provide a color image; a black developing container for a monochromatic image for storing black toner for a monochromatic image and operated when the monochromatic image is obtained; and a device for arranging the respective developing containers such that the developing containers are opposite to the latent image carrier. The other image forming apparatuses are also shown.
Abstract:
An image forming apparatus for forming an image on one or both sides of a recording medium includes a rotatable photoconductive element on which latent images are optically written, a developer which develops the images to produce a primary toner image on the photoconductive element, a belt which faces the photoconductive element, and onto which the toner image is transferred when a paper sheet is not present. A charged roller is close to and above an upper portion of the belt and downstream from the photoconductive element. The charged roller holds the paper on the belt and also transfers toner onto the underside of the paper.
