    摘要: An image forming apparatus is disclosed for providing accurate shading corrections. The apparatus includes an illumination source for illuminating an image, and a photoelectric converter that receives reflected light from the image and photoelectrically converting the reflected light. The output signal from the photoelectric converter is amplified and converted to a digital signal. The digital signal is then subjected to shading correction. A controller is provided for ensuring that white reference data for a first sheet of copy is fetched from a stable region of the illumination source during shading correction. The white reference data is subsequently used when forming an image for a first sheet of copy.

    摘要: A contact-type color scanning unit includes an RGB line sensor including a plurality of sensors corresponding to each of red, green, and blue colors. Sensors of different color are arranged along a sub scanning direction and sensors of same colors are arranged in a main scanning direction. A first switching unit performs first switching including switching between image data of any two colors and passing the remaining one color as is without switching thereby obtaining switched image data corresponding to each of red, green, and blue colors. A correcting unit performs line-to-line correction on the switched image data corresponding to each of red, green, and blue colors thereby producing corrected image data corresponding to each of red, green, and blue colors. A second switching unit that performs second switching including switching again the image data of the two colors that were switched in the first switching thereby producing switched-back image data corresponding to each of red, green, and blue colors that is in same order as an order alignment of the sensors in the sub scanning direction.

    摘要: An image reading device has two different modes for controlling the switchover of a motor drive pattern. Either one of the two modes is selected in accordance with various drive conditions including a drive speed. In one mode, in response to every drive pattern switching pulse, pattern data are output by software processing while a position signal is referenced. In the other mode, a macro transfer function is used to output the pattern data by DMA (Direct Memory Access) while the position signal is referenced at every repetition cycle of the drive patterns. The device is capable of reading an image at high speed by switching the drive pattern rapidly, thereby obviating irregularity in a reference position for reading an image.

    摘要: A finisher operable with an image forming apparatus for discharging paper sheets coming out of the apparatus and each carrying an image thereon to a plurality of bins while sorting the paper sheets and, if desired, packaging the paper sheets in an envelope. When a pack mode is selected, the size of paper sheets and the sizes of envelopes which are to be fed from a paper cassette or a tray each are sensed by size sensors. Envelopes sizes capable of accommodating the paper sheets of the sensed size are determined and compared with the sensed envelope sizes. Among the determined envelope sizes, the envelope size capable of accommodating the paper sheets of the size sensed by the size sensor in a desired number inputted. When the desired number is too great to be packaged in the envelope, such an occurrence is displayed and/or the pack mode is cancelled.
