    摘要: The subject disclosure is directed towards verifying a data recovery component of a volume snapshot service using a managed interface. The managed interface enables interoperability between the data recovery component and one or more complementary data recovery components by converting compatible instructions for the data recovery component and a complementary data recovery component into native data recovery operations for the volume snapshot service and vice versa. Via the managed interface, the complementary data recovery component emulates the native data recovery operations. Using status information associated with such an emulation, the data recovery component is verifiable.

    摘要: Aspects of the subject matter described herein relate to sharing volume data via shadow copies. In aspects, an active computer creates a shadow copy of a volume. The shadow copy is exposed to one or more passive computers that may read but not write to the volume. A passive computer may obtain data from the shadow copy by determining whether the data has been written to a differential area and, if so, reading it from the differential area. If the data has not been written to the differential area, the passive computer may obtain it by first reading it from the volume, then re-determining whether it has been written to the differential area, and if so, reading the data from the differential area. Otherwise, the data read from the volume corresponds to the data needed for the shadow copy.

    摘要: Systems and methods are described for implementing a delay driver within a cluster service storage stack, which delay driver simulates the latency experienced between two nodes in geographically distant locations. The delay driver determines whether I/O request packets should be delayed, selects the number and types of I/O requests packets to be delayed and the amount of time to delay processing of the packets. Through the use of such a driver, a user is able to simulate various conditions that geoclusters may experience when separated over large distances.
