摘要： There is disclosed a compatible television receiver capable of receiving and reproducing both the standard system television signal and the high definition television signal and capable of confining the degradation of picture quality of the high definition television signal to the minimum, in which the received standard system television signal and high definition television signal are respectively converted to non-interlace signals, and scanning is selectively performed with either of non-interlace video signals to display images. The television receiver according to the present invention comprises a first conversion circuit for receiving an interlace standard system television signal and converting it into a non-interlace television signal, a second conversion circuit for receiving an interlace high definition television signal and converting it into a non-interlace televison signal, a circuit for discriminating whether the received signal is the standard system television signal or the high definition signal, and a circuit for selecting either of outputs of the first and second conversion circuits on the basis of the result obtained in the discrimination circuit.

摘要： Image movement correction is provided in a field conversion television system by deriving simultaneously two fields of a selected number of lines from an original single field and vertically shifting one of the derived fields by 0.5 lines. A movement vector is determined for each field and movement correction is performed based on a current field and a preceding field, in the case of a moving object in the image. If no moving object is present linear approximation is employed to correct for motion caused by the field number conversion. Two memory systems are provided for the two simultaneous fields and also to selectively obtain specific horizontal lines of the current and preceding fields, relative to both simultaneous derived fields. Ultimate selection of a field for display is based upon the detected movement vector.

摘要： In processing the transfer of digital voice signals, an interframe deinterleave switching circuit automatically switches the interleaving length without requiring any switching signal from the external unit. The circuit detects a voice synchronizing signal, produces a switching signal when the voice synchronizing signal is not detected, and inputs the switching signal to an interframe deinterleaving circuit (I) so that the interleaving length is automatically switched in synchronism therewith.

摘要： The present invention provides an apparatus which receives and displays a high definition television signal and which is constructed so that noise and/or a deformed picture may not be displayed even when an input signal instead of a high definition television signal is applied or when transmission of such a high definition television signal is interrupted. In the apparatus, on the basis of whether or not a frame signal in an input high definition television signal can be detected, a first signal indicating synchronization lock or a second signal indicating synchronization unlock is generated so that, when the first signal is detected, the output of a signal processing circuit (110) is selected to display the high definition television signal, while when the second signal is detected, the output of a pattern generation circuit (114) is selected to prevent display of noise etc.

摘要： In an apparatus for detecting movement of a television image in response to frame difference data corresponding to a difference between present frame data and previous frame data, a video signal is divided into a plurality of segmental areas for each frame, a pixel or picture element is selected to represent each of the segmental areas, frame difference data are produced for each of the segmental areas by calculating differences in the position or coordinates of a pixel representative of a segmental area of a previous frame from the respective picture element of the corresponding segmental area in the present frame, and each of the calculated differences smaller than a predetermined magnitude, and which would be characteristic of a stationary background portion of the television image, is omitted from the frame difference data. This is effective to improve the movement vector detection accuracy. The apparatus has a circuit for zeroing the frame difference data, and thereby improving, the movement vector detection reliability when the number of the calculated differences omitted from the frame difference data exceeds a predetermined value.

摘要： The picture quality deterioration such as judder caused by TV frame number conversion can be mitigated by selecting either the stationary original picture signal or the motion-compensated interpolated picture signal based on the most adaptive motion vector corresponding to the smallest interframe difference between the original picture signal and the motion-compensated picture signals based on the motion vectors individually detected from divisional picture areas. The effect of this mitigation can be increased by weighting the detected motion vectors and by smoothing the contour between motion-compensated picture areas with the aid of filtering.
