Abstract: Disclosed is a process for the liquid phase hydrogenation of phthalates to cyclohexanoates. By using a reactor with a multiplicity of tubes, with a cooling fluid supplied to the outside of the tubes, shortcomings of traditional recycle mode fixed bed reactors can be overcome. Feed dilution can be avoided, resulting in much higher reaction rates.

Abstract: The invention relates to the production of isopropyl alcohol (IPA) by direct hydration of propylene over mixed transition metal oxides co-precipitated with ZrO2. In embodiments the mixed metal oxides have improved hydrolytic stability and are active over a wider temperature range than existing direct hydration catalysts.
