Abstract:
A method and a system that uses standard cell-phone sensors to provide accurate and energy-efficient outdoor localization suitable for mobile navigation design. System and method employs a dead-reckoning localization approach and leverages these road landmarks, among others such as virtual landmarks, to reset the accumulated error and achieve accurate localization. For consuming low energy the system and method uses only energy-efficient sensors or sensors that are already running for other purposes. We present the design of System and method of leveraging crowd-sourcing to automatically learn virtual landmarks and their locations. Tests of the system and method on android devices in both city and highway driving show the accuracy of results for local cell phones to within 8.4 m median error in city roads and 16.6 m on highways. Moreover, compared to GPS and other systems, the battery lifetime was extended by 347%, achieving even better localization results than GPS.

A system, method and computer-readable medium provide secure communication between a first and a second computer system based on supersingular isogeny elliptic curve cryptography. The first computer system and the second computer system each determine kernels KA and KB including computing mP+nQ by accessing a lookup table stored in a memory that contains a range of doubles of an end point of the respective kernels, where P and Q are points on the public elliptic curve and m and n are integers. The first computer system and the second computer system compute secret isogenies by determining a respective kernel KBA and KAB using mixed-base multiplicands with a single inversion, including computing the respective kernel KBA and KAB by converting the multiplicands to base 32, and computing scalar multiplications using the base 32 multiplicands.

There is provided a device for monitoring usage of a toothbrush. The device comprises a body part, a core part and a base part. The body part comprises at least one through hole extending between an upper surface and a lower surface thereof. The core part receives the body part on an upper surface thereof and comprises on the upper surface at least one elevated portion connected to at least one force sensor which is connected to a micro-controller and which is connected to a Bluetooth transmitter. The base part for receives the core part on an upper surface thereof. A toothbrush inserted in the hole rests on the elevated portion, and a signal indicative of non-usage of the toothbrush is transmitted to the Bluetooth transmitter.

A gas pipe terminal assembly for minimization of fire hazards associated with conductance of a flammable substance. The system includes a pipe having a flange at each end. Each flange includes at least one check valve and a flame screen mounted in the interior of the flange to control a gas flow through the flange. The flange includes wire guide holes and set screw holes within the outside diameter of the pipe, and at least one wire segment in tension inside the pipe and connected to at least one fusible link. At least one fusible link is configured to fuse upon exposure to a temperature above 100° C. and thereby release the tension and activate at least one fire suppression device.

Online Social Networks (OSNs) allow users to share knowledge, opinions, interests, activities, relationships and friendships with each other. Gender classification of users of an OSN such as Twitter may be difficult to ascertain because gender is not necessarily provided. The present invention relates to a computer-implemented method for predicting gender classification of users of an OSN such as Twitter. The computer-implemented method may predict gender using five color-based features extracted from Twitter profiles such as the background color in a user's profile page. This is in contrast with most existing methods for gender prediction that are language dependent. Those methods use high-dimensional spaces consisting of unique words extracted from such text fields as postings, user names, and profile descriptions. The present method is independent of the user's language, efficient, scalable, and computationally tractable, while attaining a good level of accuracy.
Abstract:
A grading and monitoring system that evaluates a quality of index of a neighborhood via satellite images in described. The system utilizes a fuzzy-logic rule based technique in determining the quality of the neighborhood. The crisp input parameters that define the characteristics of a neighborhood are first fuzzified and based on a set of rules that are obtained from an experts knowledge, an output fuzzy set of type-2 is obtained. Further, the output fuzzy set is aggregated and type-reduced to obtain an output crisp value corresponding to the neighborhoods quality. The system also monitors changes in the neighborhood quality in predetermined time intervals.
