The timing module determines a local time of the network device indicating when the network device sends a synchronization start message. The at least one interface sends the synchronization start message to a time client device to set the current time of day on the time client device, receives a synchronization response message from the time client device indicating that the current time of day of the time client device was set, and sends a synchronization success message to the time client device indicating that the time client device has correctly set its current time of day.

    摘要: An example method includes monitoring a layer two network with a first network device that operates within the network. The method also includes discovering a second network device that operates within the network by receiving an extended continuity check message (CCM) transmitted from the second network device. The extended CCM transmitted from the second network device indicates to other network devices that a service instance is available on the second network device, and includes an indication of one or more network devices from which the second network device has received CCMs for the service instance. The method further includes determining that bidirectional connectivity exists between the first network device and the second network device when the indication includes the first network device as one of the network devices from which the second network device has received CCMs for the service instance.

    摘要: A method of tracing Ethernet frame delay between network devices is described that includes outputting a delay trace message Ethernet frame to a target MEP network device. The method also includes receiving one or more delay trace response Ethernet frames from one or more MEG intermediate point (MIP) network devices positioned along a network path from the originating MEP network device to the target MEP network device. The method also includes receiving a delay trace response Ethernet frame from the target MEP network device. In some embodiments, the method includes calculating delay associated with portions of the network between each of the network devices using the received responses.
