    Abstract: The disc file system being improved includes a motor driven transducer carriage for positioning the transducer in selected cylinder positions. A command unit issues step pulses and the carriage provides detent pulses respectively representing the number of tracks (cylinders) to be and being crossed when the carriage is caused to move and moves from one cylinder position to another one. These pulses are processed so that overlap is avoided in that following the trailing edge of each step or detent pulse, a process pulse, is produced either with or without delay depending on the need to avoid conflict. The process pulses to be produced are up an down counted for tracking actual carriage movement, and the total count is zero when the carriage has arrived at the desired position.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus and processing method for drying lumber, for example two-by-four studs in an environment in a kiln in a manner to avoid warping, including crook, bow, cup and twist. The lumber pieces are stacked in a normal manner with stickers for providing air flow between courses of the lumber pieces, and the stack is dried while a horizontal force is provided to the respective courses of lumber in the stack to hold the individual pieces of lumber in edge to edge contact throughout the drying, equalizing, conditioning and cooling process for first drying of lumber, redrying of lumber or in a treatment process for removing warp from previously dried lumber. A vertical force comprising a weight or other force generating device can be also applied to the stack of lumber to augment the overall reduction in warpage if so evidenced.

    Abstract: A terminal reversing block mounts to a standard electrical disconnect device such as a circuit breaker or a pullout switch. The disconnect device has a housing which defines a cavity that faces in one direction for receiving a cable. Front and rear contacts are in the housing, one of which extends into the cavity for engagement with a cable. A terminal reversing block has a housing with at least one pocket which faces in a direction other than the opposite of the direction in which the disconnect device's cavity faces. A terminal collar disposed in the terminal reversing block pocket is engageable with a cable inserted into the pocket. A terminal in the reversing block has a mating portion and a connecting portion. The connecting portion engages the terminal collar. The mating portion engages one of the front and rear contacts of the electrical disconnect device. The arrangement of the directions in which the cavity and pocket face permits routing of the cables to minimize space requirements in a confined area, such as an enclosure or a cabinet.
