    摘要: A dynamic ramp interface system to allow a roll-on/roll-off (RORO) ship to unload and load onto a pier, floating storage facility, or other ship during high sea states. The dynamic ramp interface system includes a motion compensation damping system attached to a first platform, a first ramp also attached to the first platform leading up to the motion compensation damping system, and second ramp that is hingedly connected to a second platform and also leading to the motion compensation damping system. The motion compensation damping system includes a top plate, a bottom plate, a series of interconnected hollow bladders, and a pivot support structure. Through this arrangement, the top plate is allowed to pivot relative to the bottom plate, with the bladder system providing a damping effect. The first ramp is slideably in communication with the top plate by means of a set of articulated fingers. The second ramp is also slideably in communication with the top plate. When used for unloading a roll-on/roll-off ship, the first platform would likely be a pier or floating storage facility, the second platform would be the roll-on/roll-off ship, and the second ramp would be the roll-on/roll-off ship's ramp. By means of the dynamic ramp interface system described herein, the roll-on/roll-off ship would be able to load and unload its cargo in both normal conditions and during high sea states.

    摘要: An improved full color electrophotographic print engine using flexible belts to carry a photosensitive electrostatic image developer and a transfer belt for building up composite developed images. Each belt, and an optical scanner, are driven by mechanically independent motors which are synchronized by an electronic digital controller implementing precise servos. The use of the flexible belts allows the machine to be relatively inexpensive, very small compared to previous full color print engines, and yet maintain precise registration of color composite images. An improved fuser mechanism with increased dwell time at constant machine speed is also shown. The fuser includes a pair of spaced-apart rollers, both of which urge a sheet of image receptor against the heated roller over a predetermined angular portion of the roller. The machine is specifically designed to be used interchangeably with an optical bench source as a copier or with a laser bench as a laser printer. Improved copy quality monitoring by sensing actual amounts of toner deposited on a photoreceptor belt is also shown. Also, improved downwardly facing gravity-fed toner deposition modules are shown including an embodiment which has a purely magnetic gate for opening and closing the toner supply.

    摘要: Many military land vehicles are not designed to withstand extreme forces concomitant exploding mines. A vehicle's capacity to protect its occupants is inventively enhanced by structurally augmenting the vehicle, in lower structural portions closely related to the vehicle's cabin, with both elastomeric and rigid (non-elastomeric) materials. An elastomeric layer and a rigid layer (typically embodied as a metal or composite sheet or plate) are added to the vehicle in each of seven locations, viz., the four wheel wells (left-front, right-front, left-rear, right-rear), the two floorboards (left and right), and the intervening underside area. At each wheel well and floorboard location, the elastomer is sandwiched between the vehicle's existing rigid structure and the rigid member so as to form a tri-layer material system. At the intervening underside location, an elastomer-coated rigid member is attached with the elastomer face-down. The seven material systems are energy-dissipative and impact-deflective both locally and globally.

    摘要: A color filter interpositioning mechanism for use in an electrophotographic print mechanism which uses motor driven pulleys to move a belt which is located directly beneath a grooved track into which the color filter assemblies are inserted. The belt contains spaced apart holes which are brought beneath the color filter assemblies, by the rotation of the belt about the pulleys, thus allowing a spring loaded pin, attached to each filter, to fall through a slot in the grooved track and into the hole. The filter assembly is then drawn down the track and into an optical path. A sensor detects when the filter is properly positioned in the optical path and signals the motor to stop. An image of the original to be copied is then projected through the filter and onto a photoreceptor. After the image is shot, the belt begins to move again and the forward-most pulley pushes the spring-loaded pin back into its housing, allowing a retracting spring attached to the color filter assembly to draw the assembly back down the track into its original position. This process is repeated for all the color filter assemblies before transfer of the image to an image receptor and the completion of copying process. The use of the belt and sensor system dispenses with the need for finely machined parts and this in combination with the retracting spring allows the whole mechanism to be much smaller, thus allowing for a much smaller print mechanism.
