Abstract:
A liquid dispensing apparatus includes a self-contained source of fluid normally isolated within a reservoir bulb which is deformable to initially rupture a membrane allowing the fluid to be forced in an axial direction through a shaft bore to saturate a tip-mounted swab. Alternatively, this membrane may be positioned intermediate two aligned sections of the shaft or associated structure and is ruptured upon partial axial collapse of the sections. Several embodiments are proposed and in some, the membrane not only provides the initial containment of the fluid but also serves as a fluid-tight seal between axially adjacent portions of the structure.
Abstract:
An absorbent napkin with infolding wrap consisting of an absorbent pad of elongated rectangular configuration with elongate edges defining a short and long dimension and having a body face and an outer face for engagement to clothing, a wrap member attached to at least one of the several elongated edges and adapted to fold along the one of the elongate edges of the members to inwrap the body face, and an adhesive member secured transversely of the wrap member for adhesive engagement to the clothing. The wrap members along the longer dimension are at least half-lengths of the long dimension of the absorbent pad.
Abstract:
A disposable diaper includes a sealable disposal envelope integrally attached along a belt area seam of the diaper. A sealing tape-belt member adhered to the envelope provides an airtight seal of this envelope when the used diaper is folded and then inturned around the seam and placed within the envelope. The seam is adherently formed, by among other possibilities, by a heat seal or adhesive such as a double stick adhesive tape. The sealing tape is also provided with an adhesive on both faces. One face of the sealing adhesive is attached to the inside of the envelope while the other face performs a dual function. Initially, this other face secures the opening of the un-used disposal bag in a closed manner but subsequently serves to sealingly close this bag opening following infolding of the used diaper into the attached disposal bag. During use of the diaper, the sealing tape operates as a belt, permitting form-fitting of the diaper about the body. In one embodiment, the belt area of the diaper has two slits and the tape ends extend through these slits. Protective strips on the double stick adhesive of the tape cover portions of the adhesive until ready for usage. With this arrangement, refastenable tabs are provided to allow form-fitting of the diaper during its use and additionally, adjacent adhesive portions are exposable after the diaper has been used, to permit the sealing of the disposal bag following insertion of the used diaper therewithin.
Abstract:
A self-containing liquid swab applicator having a hollow tubing of a thin-walled plastic material for retaining therein a supply liquid and the material for being heat fusible, at least one end thereof being closed for securing retention of the supply liquid, one of the ends having an orifice adapted for exiting of the supply liquid, removable tab means secured upon the orifice for closure of the orifice until removed, and cotton form means permitting wicking and forming an environmental member about the orifice portion of the swab applicator for dispensing the supply liquid when the orifice is opened. The open end(s) may receive sequentially pulsing of alternate injections of supply liquid and air into one end of the tubing in measurable amounts and forming liquid lock portions and air lock portions along the tubing, and defining N segments of supply liquid spaced apart by air locks, and the segments may be cut apart at the air locks.
Abstract:
A portemonnaie assembly includes a substantially flat housing defined by an integral outer member forming front and rear panels with the rear panel extending to provide a closure flap foldable over the top access to a storage area therein. A unitary partition and privacy member anchored within the storage area permits the placement, storage and removal of personal hygiene articles of minimum dimensions, within the storage area and to one side of the partition section with the privacy section being foldable thereover to provide non-viewable sequestering of these articles. Preferably, these articles include a miniature tampon and feminine napkin together with a pair of disposable panties such that the user will be prepared for unexpected menses. Other, more frequently accessed articles such as cosmetics, are placed adjacent the outer surface of the privacy section and readily accessible without disturbing or exposing the personal hygiene articles. The supple composition of the partition and privacy member and its textured or brushed surface insures its conformance to the contained personal hygiene articles therebeneath while its positive retention in the privacy mode is maintained as its peripheral edges engage a similarly textured lining provided upon the inner surface of the housing. Still another storage area is defined between the partition section and front panel of the housing and serves to receive flat articles such as currency, licenses and credit cards.
Abstract:
A diaper assembly with integral disposal system, including a disposable diaper and an envelope integrally carried on the outside of the diaper, that has a mouth for receiving the diaper when soiled. One or more elements engage a section of the diaper with another section of the diaper to secure it on a wearer in a use configuration and restrict the mouth of the envelope in a disposal configuration.
Abstract:
Excessively high or low tire pressure is detected automatically with a warning signal generated for the operator. A device is attached to each wheel and includes a spring-loaded piston mounted for reciprocation in a cylinder formed in the device. The cylinder is provided with a porting arrangement which opens only at certain pressure limits. When the ports are opened a sonic or ultrasonic signal is generated and detected by sensors located in proximity to each wheel. The signals detected by the sensors are processed and utilized to actuate a warning signal that provides a visual and/or audio output for the operator. Means are provided for discriminating between background noise and the generated signal as well as to discriminate as to the location of the affected tire. In a modification of the invention, a reserve chamber is integrated into the body of the wheel and is adapted to replenish automatically air lost from the tire.

Abstract:
A liquid dispensing swab applicator for dispensing a liquid contained within the applicator onto a surface, the applicator being hermetically sealed and provided with an external jig for opening the sealed applicator and permitting the contents of the applicator to be discharged and supplied to an absorbent material attached to the end of the applicator, the absorbent material serving to apply the contents to the surface to be treated.
Abstract:
A single use disposable medical razor having an elongated handle member within which is disposed a hollow portion defining a reservoir extending from a proximate end to a distal end, closure means for the reservoir at the proximate end and a dispensing orifice at the distal end of the reservoir, plunger means transversely disposed to the hollow portion of the reservoir and essentially filling generally a first half of the reservoir adjacent the proximate end thereof and adapted to move along throughout a length of the second half of the reservoir from about a midportion of the hollow portion to a distal end thereof, the reservoir adapted for storing shaving cream in the second half thereof, a race means disposed along an element of the reservoir and extending less than the entire length of the handle from about a midpoint of the hollow portion to the proximate end thereof essentially generally along the first half, protrusion means extending from the plunger means outwardly through the race means for grasping manually by a user and, after removal of an adhesive tape from the orifice, whereby displacement of the plunger means by grasping the protrusion means and moving it along the race means moves the plunger into the second half of the reservoir for causing the shaving cream to be dispensed from the dispensing orifice in the distal end.
