摘要: Water soluble polyester coating compositions convertible to baked coatings characterized by chemical resistance, hardness and flexibility comprising a polyol component incorporating a minor proportion of pentaerythritol and a coupling agent constituted by phthalic anhydride. After neutralizing with a base the water soluble polyester can be interacted with a cross-linking agent, e.g., an aminoplast.

摘要: A multi-colored illuminated display device whereby colors are constantly changing due to small variations of temperature in the air moving about a contoured sheet of encapsulated cholesteric phase liquid crystal-coated polymeric film situated in a clear, colorless chimney. The rear interior surface of the chimney is coated to prevent the transmission of light therethrough, thus enhancing the reflected colors on the viewing faces. A source of heat and light such as a light bulb is used at the base. The heat rises by convection assisted by louvres or a small low speed fan may be installed. Many colorful designs may be achieved by varying the shape of the liquid crystal sheel and the range of heat temperatures used.

摘要: A low-cost satellite system and method for using it for continuously monitoring near space and providing real-time data, both astronomical and space-environmental, is described and claimed. Low cost is achieved by disposing outwardly facing active and passive detection means aboard telecommunications and other satellites, and providing data from such means to subscribers. The system and method enable practical means to monitor space for approaching foreign bodies, providing high quality information for e.g., underfunded educational institutions while making enhanced use of geostationary orbits, a scarce resource, among other benefits.
