摘要: A method and apparatus for processing meat is provided. According to the method, a meat product is positioned within an interior volume of a decompression chamber. A pressure differential is created across a gas output in communication with the interior volume of the decompression chamber. The decompression chamber is then rapidly decompressed by transferring gas from the interior volume of the decompression chamber through the gas output. The pressure differential and the rate of the rapid decompression are selected to be suitable for processing the meat product positioned within the interior volume of the decompression chamber. Typically, the pressure differential and the rate of rapid decompression are selected to be suitable for tenderizing the meat product, killing microorganisms in the meat product, or both.

摘要: An improved tunneler for placement of an arteriovenous graft in subcutaneous tissue of a patient, includes a shaft with opposite ends carrying a penetrating tip and a handle. The shaft is manually bendable but has sufficient rigidity for retaining a desired curvature when in use. The tip and handle are interchangeable. In implanting a graft, the shaft is passed through an incision near the distal end of a patient's limb to a proximal incision, to form a first tunnel. With the shaft in place in the tunnel, the tip and handle are interchanged, and a graft is attached to the tip and pulled toward the proximal incision until its end is exposed. A second tunnel is then formed, again by passing the instrument through the distal incision toward the proximal incision. The tip and handle are again interchanged, and, with the tip attached to the other end of the graft, the graft is pulled into place to form a loop.

摘要: Embodiments of the invention provide a three-dimensional nanotube structure. For one embodiment, a connector molecule is created that has bonding sites capable of bonding with one end of an open-ended nanotube segment and bonding sites capable of bonding with the corresponding bonding sites of a plurality of other connector molecules. For one embodiment, the connector molecule is cone-shaped, with base of the cone determined so as to bond with the edge of the open-ended nanotube and the point of the cone comprising a single molecule capable of bonding with the corresponding molecules of two or more other connector molecules. In one embodiment, the three-dimensional nanotube structures are incorporated into a polymer matrix to form a composite polymer having improved thermal conductivity. For one embodiment, the composite polymer is used to form efficient and cost-effective heat dissipation devices.

摘要: An improved air-cooling system for high performance, high density electronic equipment comprises, in one embodiment, a single fan having a radial impeller, a baffle having an inlet portion to efficiently direct air into the fan intake, and a two-tiered outlet plenum to direct one airflow specifically at the highest heat-generating components and another airflow at all components. The air-cooling system is designed to provide maximum cooling for a low-height, high heat-generating electronics module such as a server. By using only a single fan that is matched to the low resistance airflow characteristics of the baffle, the air-cooling system offers significant advantages over multi-fan systems. Also described are a computer server and methods of making heat-dissipation equipment.
