摘要: The present invention provides a porcelain enamel coating composition for use in forming a coating composition upon a metal substrate having an infrared reflectivity of at least 50% at 2.5 .mu.-microns measured with a Perkin Elmer Lambda 19 UV/VIS/NIR spectrometer with a labsphere RSA-PE 19 reflectance spectroscopy accessory. The coating composition comprises a glass component and a separate and distinct addition of cerium oxide. Preferably, the coating composition comprises from about 0.20% to about 3.0% by weight of the cerium oxide.

摘要: The present invention contemplates a novel enamel composition, a novel electrodeposition bath, a novel metal substrate for enameling, and the novel PEMS produced from these materials and procedures. In general, the novel glass composition of the present invention are within the following composition ranges (which are set forth in percent by weight).______________________________________ SiO.sub.2 9-16% B.sub.2 O.sub.3 20-25% MoO.sub.3 2-10% MgO 30-40% BaO 16-22% ZnO 5-14% SnO.sub.2 0-4% ______________________________________ In the novel application method of the present invention, an improved electrophoretic bath has been found in which the glass particles are suspended in a mixture of isopropyl alcohol and either dichloromethane or trichlorotrifluoroethane together with ethylene glycol and an acrylic additive. Stainless steel electroplated with a thin film of molybdenum and heat-treated at an elevated temperature is employed as the substrate.

摘要: The present invention provides a new and improved coating composition for use in forming a dielectric layer upon a section of metal upon firing. The coating composition includes a glass composition, said glass composition comprising in weight percent a combined weight of BaO and SrO of from about 15% to about 75%, from about 5% to about 35% B.sub.2 O.sub.3, from about 10% to about 40% SiO.sub.2, up to about 10% Al.sub.2 O.sub.3, up to about 7% Co.sub.3 O.sub.4, up to about 20% ZnO, up to about 20% TiO.sub.2, up to about 7% P.sub.2 O.sub.5, up to about 7% CuO, up to about 7% Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3, up to about 7% NiO, a combined weight of SnO, MoO.sub.3, WO.sub.3, Sb.sub.2 O.sub.5, of up to about 20%, up to about 20% Bi.sub.2 O.sub.3, a combined weight of up to about 20% Nb.sub.2 O.sub.5, La.sub.2 O.sub.3, Y.sub.2 O.sub.3 and CeO.sub.2, up to about 5% ZrO.sub.2, up to about 20% CaO, up to about 5% MgO, up to about 2% As.sub.2 O.sub.3 and a combined weight of up to about 3% Li.sub.2 O, Na.sub.2 O and K.sub.2 O.

摘要: A frit composition is disclosed adapted to be applied to a metal substrate containing iron and fired to form a ceramic coat. The frit composition comprises a primary devitrifiable frit adapted to fuse at a firing temperature and upon cooling form devitrified particles; and a secondary frit containing a volatilizable metal oxide adapted to form at a firing temperature substantially an amorphous glass and precipitate crystals of the volatilizable metal oxide. The crystals at least partially volatilize at the firing temperature to provide protective vapors effective to inhibit oxidation of the substrate. Upon cooling, the amorphous glass of the secondary frit bonds the devitrified particles of the primary frit one to another. Preferably, the devitrified particles of the primary frit provide a porous ceramic coat such as on a surface of a self-cleaning cooking device exposed to cooking residues. In this case, the primary frit may also contain an oxidation catalyst.
