摘要:
A disposable cover is provided for laryngoscopes and the like of the type having an elongate blade with a contoured, channel-shaped guide surface on which an associated light source is mounted to facilitate inserting an endotracheal tube into the air passageway of a patient. The disposable cover comprises a sheath having a sterile exterior surface, and a closed interior surface defining a hollow cavity shaped to receive therein and envelope the laryngoscope blade. The sheath has an open end through which the laryngoscope blade is inserted into the cavity of the sheath. The sheath is readily flexible so that an associated portion of the same can be conformed to the contoured guide surface of the laryngoscope blade. Being constructed from a light-transmitting material, the sheath permits light waves emitted from the light source to pass through the sheath, and illuminate the air passageway of the patient. The sheath is selectively fitted on the laryngoscope blade in a manner which securely retains the associated portion of the sheath closely against the contoured guide surface of the laryngoscope blade, such that the view along the air passageway of the patient remains wholly unobstructed during insertion of the endotracheal tube, yet permits the sheath to be manually stripped from the laryngoscope blade for disposal after a single use.

A disposable laryngoscope blade cover that includes a flexible sleeve and a resilient slide band for use in conjunction with a laryngoscope having a blade and a handle. The sleeve has an open end and a closed end. The open end is received by the blade and the handle. The sleeve covers the blade and at least a portion of the handle. The resilient slide band is fixedly attached to the sleeve. The band engages the handle to maintain the sleeve on the laryngoscope. After the cover has been used, the band can be disengaged from the handle for removal of the sleeve from the laryngoscope. The invention is also directed to a method for maintaining the sterility of the cover. The steps include the following: (a) providing a sterile cover consisting of a flexible sleeve having an open end and a closed end and a resilient slide band contained within a flexible protective package; (b) opening the package thereby exposing the open end of the cover; (c) inserting the blade into the open end of the sleeve; (d) pulling the slide band to cause the sleeve to completely cover the blade and at least a portion of the handle; and (e) engaging the slide band to the handle to maintain the sleeve on the laryngoscope.

THIS INVENTION IS CONCERNED WITH THE ANCHORING OF TENDONS OF PRESTRESSED STRUCTURAL MEMBERS. IN PARTICULAR THE INVENTION RELATES TO AN IMPROVED METHOD OF FORMING AN ANCHORING DEVICE ON A TENDON AT ANY POINT ON THE LENGTH OF A TENDON. THE ANCHORING DEVICE IS IN THE FORM OF A MOLDED PROTRUSION OF PLASTIC OR OTHER MATERIAL FORMED ON THE TENDON, AT A TEMPERATURE SUFFICIENTLY LOW TO PREVENT WEAKENING OF THE TENDON, AND BONDED THERETO EITHER BY AN ADHENSIVE OR BY MECHANICALLY DEFORMING THE TENDON. THE ANCHORING DEVICE MAY BE REINFORCED INTERNALLY OR EXTERNALLY AND MAY HAVE ANY ONE OF A NUMBER OF DIFFERENT EXTERNAL CONTOURS AS REQUIRED IN USE. WHEN THE ANCHORING DEVICE HAS BEEN FORMED ON THE TENDON THE TENDON MAY BE STRESSED TO FORM A PRESTRESSED TENDON OF A STRUCTURAL MEMBER AND THE ANCHORING DEVICES ARE ADAPTED TO BEAR AGAINST THE BEARING PLATES TO TRANSFER THE TENSILE LOAD ON THE TENDON TO A COMPRESSIVE LOAD ON THE STRUCTURAL MEMBER.

An aseismic bearing is disclosed for use in a bridge structure in combination with a bridge support and/or sliding bearing. The aseismic bearing permits horizontal movement of the bridge's support to occur under the bridges superstructure while limiting the transmission of those forces to the superstructure. Also disclosed is a displacement control device for limiting relative movement between the two parts of the bridge.
