摘要: An aqueous composition includes polyvinyl alcohol, an acid having a pKa of at most 4.0, and a dispersion of a polymer in which vinyl acetate units constitute at least 60 wt % of the polymer. The polymer does not contain units of any N-methylol-containing monomer, and at least a portion of the polyvinyl alcohol is present in the form of an emulsion stabilizer for the polymer. The wet strength of a fibrous nonwoven substrate can be increased by applying one or more aqueous compositions that together include polyvinyl alcohol, an acid having a pKa of at most 4.0, and a dispersion of a polymer as described above, followed by a final drying step. A fibrous nonwoven article can be prepared in this way.

摘要: A heat transfer element includes curved mounting surfaces configured to mate with an outer surface of a pipe for attachment thereto; and a channel configured to receive a tracer therein. The heat transfer element is configured to effect conductive heat transfer from the tracer to the pipe, or to process flowing through the pipe, when attached with heat transfer cement (HTC) to both the pipe and the tracer. A system includes a pipe and a tracer; HTC; and a heat transfer element having curved mounting surfaces configured to mate with an outer surface of the pipe and attached thereto via the HTC, and a channel in which the tracer is received and secured via HTC. The heat transfer element is configured to effect conductive heat transfer from the tracer to the pipe, or to process flowing through the pipe, when attached with HTC to both the pipe and the tracer.

摘要: An apparatus and method for cutting piled fabric sections such as carpet tiles is provided. The apparatus comprises a frame, a bending assembly for bending pile elements away from the normal substantially vertical orientation with respect to the base of the fabric along a line to be cut, at least one cutting blade for cutting the fabric through a portion of the bent piling elements and fabric base and power assemblies for powering the bending and cutting operations. The related method comprises the steps of bending the pile elements downward toward the fabric base along a line to be cut and thereafter cutting through the bent piling elements and fabric base to form a two-sided cut. Such method shears piling elements adjacent to one side of the cut while leaving the pile elements adjacent to the other side of the cut substantially unaltered.

摘要: An improved board-insert used in fabric painting and dyeing, in which the flat board is provided with a series of notches or cutouts about its peripheral edge surface, so that any two, oppositely-disposed notches may be used for holding an enwrapped, large rubber or elastic band, which rubber band may then be used as a straight-line guide or edge surface for aiding the fabric painter or dyer in the development of his or her design during the fabric-dyeing process, so that vertical, horizontal, and diagonal lines may be more perfectly formed during the painting process.
