    摘要: The present invention relates to supporting a handover of a mobile terminal. Preferably, the present invention performs a scan of a neighboring network different from a current network of the mobile terminal to determine the presence of an accessible link of the neighboring network for performing a handover, wherein the mobile terminal comprises a heterogeneous network handover module that is configured to provide convergence of information from at least one network interface module associated with one of a homogeneous and heterogeneous network into a unified presentation. An information message is then received from the neighboring network, wherein the information message comprises an information element associated with whether the neighboring network is capable of communicating with the heterogeneous network handover module of the mobile terminal.

    摘要: The present invention relates to providing mobility management protocol information to a multi-mode mobile terminal for performing handover between heterogeneous networks. Preferably, the present invention establishes a unified interface to an upper layer of the mobile terminal for managing messages to and from at least one of a homogeneous network and a heterogeneous network, establishes a connection with an accessible link of at least one of a homogeneous network and a heterogeneous network for performing handover, and receives in the upper layer information from the unified interface related to the established connection. Preferably, the step of receiving the information includes receiving mobility management protocol information of the at least one of a homogeneous network and a heterogeneous network. Accordingly, the mobile terminal reduces a time duration for establishing a Care of Address (CoA) using a new mobility management protocol of a new network the mobile terminal has been handed over to.

    摘要: A method for transmitting messages to alter the operating status between a mobile station and a base station in a wireless access system comprises, at the mobile station, transmitting a first message to the base station, setting a first count to a first predetermined value and enabling a first, the first message requesting a alteration in operating status between the mobile station and the base station, whereupon expiration of the first timer before receiving a second message from the base station, the count is decremented and, if the count is above a second predetermined value, the first timer is reset and the first message is retransmitted to the base station. The method also comprises, at a base station, receiving the first message, transmitting a second message to the mobile station and enabling a second timer, whereupon expiration of the second timer, the alteration in operating status is effected.

Lastly, if the compared status information are different, the MS receives the first channel descriptor according to the transmission frame information.

    摘要: The present invention provides a media independent information service (MIIS) for media independent handover (MIH) in a broadband wireless access system. A first lower entity of a mobile station receives a MIH information request primitive requesting a set of information elements provided by the MIIS from a first upper entity of the mobile station. An MIH information request message including an information query list to retrieve the set of information elements is transmitted from the first lower entity to a second lower entity of a base station. An MIH information response message including the set of information elements is received by the first lower entity from the second lower entity in response to the MIH information request message. An MIH information confirmation primitive including the set of information elements is then transmitted from the first lower entity to the first upper entity. The set of information elements includes at least a channel IE representing channel information of a point of attachment (PoA), a quality of service (QoS) IE associated with a QoS level provided by the PoA, or a data rate IE associated with a data transport speed at the PoA.

    摘要: A method for controlling an idle mode in a mobile station comprises transmitting an idle mode request to a serving base station to enter the idle mode, and receiving a decode information transmission frame value and a decode information change status from at least one base station. The method also comprises, if the decode information change status indicates a change in the decode information, maintaining the idle mode, and receiving the decode information from the at least one base station when the transmission frame value is reached. The decode information may comprise at least one of downlink channel descriptor (DCD) information, uplink channel descriptor (UCD) information, and forward error correction (FEC) code type information. The transmission frame value may comprise a frame number or a frame offset. The at least one base station may be in a same paging group.

Preferably, the present invention generates a first heterogeneous protocol message from a heterogeneous network handover module to a medium access control (MAC) of the mobile terminal, wherein the heterogeneous network handover module is configured to provide convergence of information from at least one network interface module associated with one of a homogeneous and heterogeneous network into a unified presentation. A management request associated with a handover process is then transmitted to a serving network, wherein the management request comprises the first heterogeneous protocol message. Accordingly, messages can be remotely exchanged via a radio section between heterogeneous network handover modules of a mobile terminal and a serving network. Therefore, messages are transferred faster and media independent handover is performed more quickly.
