    摘要: In a system in which data employed by a computer is stored in a storage system, the storage system transfers this data to another storage system and a copy of the data is maintained in the other storage system. The consistency of the copy is maintained even when data is written, to the storage system by a computer, without having a write time applied. A source storage system, when a write time is applied to a write request, records the write time and applies this write time to the received write data and, when no write time is applied, applies the recorded write time to the received write data and transfers the write data with this write time applied thereto, to a target storage system. The target storage system stores the write data in a logical volume in the target storage system in accordance with the write time.

    摘要: A data processing system has a plurality of storage systems. In this system, data replication is performed at high speed and efficiency while maintaining data integrity. In addition, when failure has occurred in a configuration element, the time necessary to resume the data replication is reduced. In accordance with an instruction from first host computer, updating of replication-target data and creation of a journal are performed in a storage system A, and updating of replication data and creation of a journal are performed in a storage system B. A storage system C retrieves a journal from the storage system B in asynchronization with the updating, and performs updating of replication data. When failure has occurred in the storage system B, a journal-retrieving end is altered to the storage system, and the replication data is updated in accordance with the retrieved journal.

    摘要: A remote copy system includes: a first storage system having a first logical volume accompanied with a first plurality of disk drives in the first storage system; a second storage system having a second logical volume, which is a virtual volume not accompanied with a second plurality of disk drives in the second storage system, the virtual volume configuring a first remote copy pair with the first logical volume; and a third storage system having a third logical volume accompanied with a third plurality of disk drives in the third storage system, the third logical volume configuring a second remote copy pair with the virtual volume and storing a copied data of data stored in the first logical volume. If the second storage system receives write data sent from the first storage system to the virtual volume, the second storage system transfers the write data to the third logical volume in the third storage system.

    摘要: A storage apparatus includes a storage unit and a controller, wherein control of inputting/outputting data from/to a device provided in said storage unit is executed in accordance with a request received by said storage apparatus. An actual device of the storage apparatus corresponds to a virtual device which is external to said storage apparatus. The controller operates to perform a process for mapping an actual device address corresponding to a virtual device address, in accordance with a specification of the actual device to be mounted or unmounted to correspond to the virtual device, and storing and retaining mapping information obtained from the mapping in a first table. The controller also performs data input/output process for receiving, an access request for data input/output in which said virtual device address is specified, obtaining the actual device address mapped to said specified virtual device address in said first table, and accessing the actual device by said obtained actual device address.

    摘要: During the normal operation state of a computer system 1000, the data stored in a primary storage system 200P is copied to an intermediate storage system 200I via synchronous copying and the data stored in the intermediate storage system 200I is copied to a secondary storage system 200R via asynchronous copying. During the reverse operation state, however, the data stored in the secondary storage system 200R is copied to the intermediate storage system 200I via asynchronous copying and the data stored in the intermediate storage system 200I is copied to the primary storage system 200P via synchronous copying. In this way, practical remote copying can be carried out in a computer system in which three or more storage devices are installed at different locations and connected serially.

    摘要: To provide a computer system constituting a multitarget array and utilizing a remote copy technique for backing up data, in which when a failure occurs in a primary site, a new pair is formed between remaining two secondary sites without copying all data. A first secondary site is associated with the primary site by synchronous remote copy. A second secondary site is associated with the primary site by asynchronous remote copy. A storage system of the first secondary site includes a difference bitmap indicating an area to which data has been written from a host computer. When a failure occurs in a host computer of the primary site, only data of an area indicated by the difference bitmap is transferred to a storage system of the second secondary site.
