A hinge device for an electronic appliance for rotatably linking a first member and a second member, comprises a bearing section arranged on one of the first member and the second member, and a rotary shaft section arranged on the other of the first member and the second member. The rotary shaft section is rotatably engaged with the bearing section. The rotary shaft section is provided with a hollow section configured to arrange a functional member relating to a function of the electronic appliance to which the hinge device is applied.

A code reader holder comprises an upper cover, a lower cover, a volume controller, an inner speaker, a electric element mounting portion, a substrate, a battery, and a terminal section. The electric element mounting portion decodes a code read by the code reader to convert the code into an electric audio signal, and outputs the electric audio signal as audio data from the inner speaker. The audio data is output at a suitable volume level adjusted by the volume controller. The code reader body contains therein an imaging section mainly comprising a lens and a light-receiving sensor as an imaging element, an illumination section for irradiating the code, and a transmission section for transmitting information obtained by the imaging element to the electric element mounting portion in the code reader holder.

A reading section optically reads a code from a recording medium having a portion on which multimedia information including at least one of audio information, video information, and digital code data is recorded as an optically readable code. A plurality of processing sections sequentially process the code read by the reading section and output the processed code as the original multimedia information. An operation switch designates the start of reading of the code. A control section causes one or a plurality of the plurality of processing sections to terminate a processing operation for a code which has been read by the time the operation switch is operated, and executes processing for data of the processed code in correspondence with another processing section on a subsequent stage, on the basis of the operation of the operation switch after the start of reading is designated by the operation switch.

A photographing apparatus of the invention which is capable of photographing a desired object by making a plurality of photographing apparatuses cooperative with one another includes: an image pickup section; a detection section for acquiring photographing information related to an image acquired by the image pickup section; a transmission section for transmitting the photographing information acquired by the detection section; a reception section for receiving an image photographed and transmitted by another photographing apparatus based on the photographing information; and a memory control section for storing the image acquired by the image pickup section and the image received by the reception section in association with each other.

A pen type code reader is provided with two pairs of substantially parallel anti-tilt ridges arranged on the respective opposite external sides of the front section of the code reader main body to be located along the scanning direction and projecting in the scanning direction. The code reader further includes a groove arranged on the front surface of the front section of the code reader main body and open at the opposite ends to the external sides in the scanning direction and having a width substantially equal to the width of the code pattern.

The light receiving surface of a photosensor is set larger than the image of one block of the code pattern which is formed through the optical system.
