    摘要: A plasma display apparatus may include an external light shielding sheet attached to a front of a panel to absorb and shield externally incident light. Accordingly, a black image can be implemented close to an original color and bright and dark room contrast can be improved. Furthermore, thickness of the external light shielding sheet and height of a pattern unit have a given ratio in order to properly secure an aperture ratio of the external light shielding sheet. Accordingly, light emitted into the panel can transmit toward a user side.

    摘要: A plasma display apparatus may include a plasma display panel (PDP), and a filter disposed at a front of the PDP. The filter may include an external light shielding sheet having a base unit and a plurality of pattern units formed on the base unit. Each of the pattern units may include a bottom and first and second slanted surfaces which are connected to the bottom. A thickness of the external light shielding sheet may be in a range of 1.01 to 1.5 times greater than a height of each of the pattern units and a first interior angle between the first slanted surface and the bottom of each of the pattern units may differ from a second interior angle between the second slanted surface and the bottom of each of the pattern units.

The EMI film is grounded through one or more connection members directly connected to the EMI film. Accordingly, a patterning process can be simplified using a single patterning mask regardless of the size of a panel. Furthermore, the EMI film of the filter and an AR film are formed on the same base film. Therefore, the manufacturing cost can be saved.

Another example of the PDP includes a panel with a panel grounding unit in the front surface, a base film in the front surface of the panel, an EMI shielding film on the base film, a back cover surrounding the panel, and a grounding unit for electrically connecting the panel grounding unit to the back cover. The panel grounding unit and the grounding unit are connected through a conductive substance. The PDP of this research can protect the panel from being damaged by the grounding unit and reduce production costs. Also, it can increase EMI shielding rate by grounding the EMI absorbed in the EMI shielding film.
