Abstract: A field of electric drive devices and electric machines, such as electric motors and electric generators for industrial applications and more particularly to a method and an arrangement for controlling vibration of a variable frequency drive controlled electric machine. In the method for controlling vibration of a variable frequency drive controlled electric machine, the resonance frequency/frequencies and the stiffness are determined in a ramp up/ramp down test; amount of damping is determined in an impulse test; a mechanical transfer function is determined in a steady drive test; a vibration control model is determined utilizing said resonance frequency/frequencies, said stiffness, the amount of damping and the mechanical transfer function; and vibration is controlled utilizing the vibration control model.

Abstract: A method is described for estimating a position of a rotor in a synchronous electric machine having a rotor. The method has the steps of: inputting the initial rotor angle into a power converter, injecting a first voltage waveform with a first fundamental frequency into the power converter,—injecting a second voltage waveform with a second fundamental frequency into the power converter, the second voltage waveform being offset with an offset angle δθ, determining a resulting second axis current in the power converter at the second fundamental frequency, adjusting, for each torque value, the offset angle δθ so that the resulting second axis current at the second fundamental frequency becomes zero, and estimating the position of the rotor based on the plurality of offset angle values.

Abstract: A method of identifying parameters of a motor system having an electric motor assembly and a control system, for vibration reduction in the electric motor assembly, the method including: a) sweeping a frequency of an oscillating reactive torque injected into the electric motor, b) determining a natural frequency of the motor system, the natural frequency being the frequency at which the oscillating reactive torque produces a maximum amplitude of a vibration-related parameter obtained based on vibration-related measurements by sensors mounted to the electric motor, c) incrementally increasing a magnitude of reactive torque oscillating at the natural frequency, injected to the electric motor, d) obtaining a magnitude of the vibration-related parameter for each magnitude of the reactive torque injected in step c), and e) determining, for each magnitude of the injected reactive torque, a gain and a phase response of the motor system, the gain being determined based on the magnitude of the injected reactive torque and the corresponding magnitude of the vibration-related parameter, and the phase response being determined based on a phase angle of the injected reactive torque and a phase angle of the corresponding vibration-related parameter.

Abstract: According to an aspect, there is provided an apparatus for performing angular position error estimation. The apparatus operates (601) a synchronous motor (111) according to a pre-defined pulsating torque signal using a sensorless vector control method with high-frequency voltage injection. The pre-defined pulsating torque signal has a zero mean and corresponds to a torque operating point. The apparatus measures (602) a first value of an estimated angular position at a first time instance corresponding substantially to an end point of the pre-defined pulsating torque signal and second values of the estimated angular position and an estimated angular speed at a second time instance occurring after the first time instance. Based on the measured values, the apparatus estimates (603) an error in the estimated angular position and stores (604) the error to a lookup table. After performing said steps for one or more pre-defined pulsating torque signals, the apparatus operates (607) the synchronous motor (111) using the lookup table for angular position error correction.
