A system for automatic landing of an aircraft on a runway, including an onboard image capture system, image analyzer for detecting in an image a landing runway and determining characteristics of a segment connecting a planned point of impact on the runway and a vanishing point of the image, a measurement module for measuring observables in an inertial frame tied to the runway, on the basis of characteristics of the segment, the observables including a first observable, a second observable, and a third observable, an estimator for estimating longitudinal, lateral and vertical position deviations of aircraft position relative to point of impact from measurements of the first, second and third observables, and guidance for determining aircraft guidance orders from the longitudinal, lateral and vertical deviations and of the relative heading angle.
Abstract:
The device comprises servocontrol means which automatically control, in a combined manner, an automatic thrust system of the aircraft and airbrakes of the aircraft, as a supplement to usual means for steering the vertical trajectory, so that the aircraft attains a speed setpoint and/or altitude setpoint, at the location defined by a geographical constraint.

The device for assisting the landing of an aircraft in a phase of descent for the purpose of a landing on a runway with the help of an instrument landing assistance module includes an image capturing module for capturing a sequence of successive images of the ground, an image processing module, a monitoring module for detecting on the processed images at least one visual characteristic corresponding to a runway, a computation module for computing a current position of the aircraft and a comparison module for comparing the computed current position with a signal representative of a current position of the instrument landing assistance module, a go-around warning being transmitted to a display unit, if the current positions are not substantially identical.
