Abstract: An occupant detection device includes: an acquisition unit configured to acquire, based on an intensity of a reflected wave generated when a transmission wave transmitted toward an interior of a moving body is reflected by an object present in the interior, point cloud information indicating a three-dimensional-coordinate position of the object moving in the interior as a point cloud including a plurality of detection points; a generation unit configured to generate, based on the point cloud information, a seat row map for each seat row including a plurality of seating regions, the seat row map indicating a distribution of the detection points in a plane region corresponding to an arrangement direction of the plurality of seating regions and a height direction of the moving body; a setting unit configured to set, on the seat row map, an upper end line along an upper end portion of a plane point cloud including two or more of the detection points; and an estimation unit configured to estimate the number of occupants for each seat row based on a shape feature of the upper end line.

Abstract: Provided is an occupant detection device including an obtaining part obtaining indicating intensities of reflected waves generated by transmission waves being reflected by objects, the transmission waves being transmitted into an interior of a vehicle. A generating part generates, based on the reflected-wave information, a piece of first point cloud information indicating changes in intensity of corresponding ones of the reflected waves in a first detection region set for each seat row among seating regions; and a determining part determining, for each of the seat rows, whether an occupant is present in a corresponding one of the first detection regions, based on a corresponding one of the pieces of first point cloud information when the vehicle is stopped. The pieces of first point cloud information each include point cloud corresponding to an object present across a plurality of seating regions in a corresponding one of the first detection regions.

Abstract: An occupant detection device includes: a radio wave sensor located above a seat surface of a seat that is disposed in a vehicle cabin of a vehicle, in a vertical direction of the vehicle, and including a transmission unit configured to transmit a transmission wave to the vehicle cabin and a reception unit configured to receive a reflected wave generated by the transmission wave being reflected by an occupant on the seat; a creation unit configured to create, based on the reflected wave, three-dimensional map information in the vehicle cabin in which a position of a reflection point of the reflected wave is represented by three-dimensional coordinates; and a calculation unit configured to calculate, based on the three-dimensional map information, backbone information that is information on a backbone of the occupant on the seat.
