    Abstract: A retrofit latch adapter is configured to replace a pre-existing roller head latch assembly of a pre-existing exit device. The retrofit latch adapter may include a flat latch head that may provide additional security for a door compared with the pre-existing roller head pre-existing latch assembly. A method of installing such a retrofit latch adapter in a preexisting exist device may include rotationally releasing a pre-existing latch assembly having a roller latch head from the pre-existing exit device; rotating the pre-existing latch assembly to linearly decouple the pre-existing latch assembly from a transmission of the pre-existing exit device; removing the pre-existing latch assembly from the pre-existing exit device; rotating the retrofit latch adapter to linearly couple the retrofit latch adapter to the transmission of the pre-existing exit device; inserting the retrofit latch adapter at least partially into a housing of the pre-existing exit device; aligning the flat latch head with an uppermost portion of the housing of the pre-existing exit device; and rotationally securing the retrofit latch adapter to the pre-existing exit device.

    Abstract: An exit device comprises an inner door handle adapted to be mounted to a door for movement relative to the door from a first position to a second position. A pair of brackets are adapted to be operatively connected between the respective ends of a horizontal portion and a vertical portion of the door handle. Each bracket comprises a first bracket member secured to the door handle, a second bracket member adapted to be secured to the door, and a pin for joining the first bracket member and the second bracket member for rotation about an axis through the pin. The first bracket member and the second bracket member pivot relative to one another when the door handle moves between the first position and the second position.

    Abstract: A dogging mechanism for an exit device may include a camming element that is configured to rotate between an undogged position and a dogged position. The dogging mechanism may include a first linkage operatively coupled to a latch of the exit device and a second linkage operatively coupled to the camming element. The first linkage may be fixed to the camming element such that movement of the camming element between the undogged position and the dogged position moves the latch between a latched position and an unlatched position, respectively. The camming element may include at least one slot that is at least partially curved, and the slot may receive a pin of the second linkage such that the slot is movable relative to the second linkage to move the camming element between the undogged and dogged positions.

    Abstract: A pull handle may include a chassis, a latch disposed at least partially in the chassis, a thumb turn, and a dogging fastener movably disposed on the thumb turn. The thumb turn may be rotatable between a locking position and an unlocking position, where the thumb turn is coupled to the latch such that when the thumb turn is in the locking position the latch is in an extended position and when the thumb turn is in the unlocking position the latch is in a retracted position. The dogging fastener may be configured to move between a dogging position and an undogging position, where in the dogging position the dogging fastener engages the chassis to inhibit rotation of the thumb turn.
