Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing a virtual network function in a visited network are disclosed. For example, the method receives an attach request or a handover for a user endpoint device, determines a home network for the user endpoint device, receives a profile of the user endpoint device, determines a policy for providing a service to the user endpoint device in accordance with the profile, determines a set of virtual network functions needed for providing the service to the user endpoint device in accordance with the policy, grants the attach request or the handover, designates for each virtual network function of the set of virtual network functions that is needed for providing the service, a corresponding virtual network function for serving the user endpoint device at a location of the user endpoint device, and provides the service to the user endpoint device via the set of virtual network functions.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, receiving, from an application server, a data transfer request associated with delivery of data from the application server to a wireless communication device that is connected to a mobile communication network, determining a priority score for the data transfer request associated with the wireless communication device according to status information in a subscription profile associated with the wireless communication device, comparing the priority score for the data transfer request associated with the wireless communication device to a plurality of priority scores associated with a plurality of data transfer requests associated with deliver of data to a plurality of wireless communication devices that are connected to the mobile communication network to generate a transfer order mapping of a set of requests comprising the data transfer request and the plurality of data transfer requests, and transferring the data from the application server to the wireless communication device according to the transfer order mapping of the set of requests. Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, receiving a request to initiate a multimedia broadcast multicast service (MBMS) to wirelessly distribute media content to mobile user equipment within a target geographical region using a common radio channel. An efficiency metric is obtained, in response to the request, for each broadcast multicast service center (BMSC). The efficiency metric is evaluated for each of the BMSCs and one of the BMSCs is selected based on the evaluation result. Establishment of an MBMS bearer service is facilitated using the selected BMSC, and a first media content item is disseminated to the mobile user equipment within the target geographical region using the common radio channel by way of the MBMS bearer service. Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, identifying, by a processing system including a processor, a first radio access node of a mobile communication network that is overloaded according to information associated with a plurality of narrow band wireless devices connected to the first radio access node, identifying, by the processing system, a second radio access node of the mobile communication network responsive to determining that the first radio access node is overloaded, and commanding, by the processing system, the second radio access node to increase output power to cause a first narrow band wireless device of the plurality of narrow band wireless devices to transition from connection with the first radio access node to connection with the second radio access node.
