    摘要: A navigation device includes a platform having hardware including at least a user operation unit and a map database, and basic functions to control the hardware. The navigation device also includes an application processing unit for providing navigation services using the basic functions of the platform, and a platform-dependent unit for, when transferring information from the platform to the application processing unit, transferring the information in a constant format, and for, when transferring information from the application processing unit to the platform, transferring it in a certain format which depends on the platform. The map database holds map data in a predetermined recording format. The navigation device can further include a map-database-dependent unit for receiving map data, which is read from the map database by the platform-dependent unit, and for supplying the received map data to the application processing unit in the constant format. The navigation device can also include a user-interface-dependent unit for receiving data corresponding to a user's operation, which is read from the user operation unit by the platform-dependent unit, and for supplying the received data to the application processing unit in the constant format.

    摘要: The present invention provides an oil detecting element capable of accurately detecting oil floating on water. The oil detecting element comprises a water-repellent, oil-passing filtering member for preventing water coming into the element. Oil can be detected by detecting change in electric resistance of a conductive particle layer due to its contact with oil arriving through the member. According to an embodiment of the invention, the water-repellent, oil-passing filtering member is impregnated with a material which is toxic to water life such as algae and shells to prevent settling of these water life on the surface of the element and thereby to prolong the life of the element. Examples of an oil detector incorporating the oil detecting element and including an electrical circuit which detects change in electric resistance of the element upon its contact with oil and actuates a suitable alarming device such as a buzzer are described.

    摘要: When stopping operation of an electric power steering apparatus, a motor relay is kept in an on-state even after a power supply relay is in an off-state. A drive control portion sets a target value of a d-axis current to a value other than zero and sets a target value of a q-axis current to zero, and performs a processing same as that at the time of rotating a motor. MOS-FETs contained in a motor driving circuit are controlled such that each of driving currents of the two phases or more is not zero and the brushless motor does not rotate even supplied with these driving currents. Electric charge accumulated in a capacitor is discharged via the MOS-FETs each in an on-state, a motor relay and the windings of the brushless motor. The electric charge accumulated in the capacitor may be discharged via the excitation coil of the motor relay.
