    摘要: An objective gas to be measured is introduced into first and second chambers which are connected via a diffusion resistive passage. A first electrochemical cell is provided in the first chamber for pumping in and out oxygen in accordance with an applied voltage. A second electrochemical cell is provided in the second chamber and responsive to application of a predetermined voltage for generating a sensor current representing a specific gas concentration in the objective gas. The first electrochemical cell is located between the first chamber and a reference gas chamber so that oxygen pumping in and out operation can be performed between the first chamber and the reference gas chamber.

    摘要: In order to raise accuracy of measurement, a compound layered type of sensing device is provided. The device comprises a plurality of solid electrolyte plates and first to third electrochemical cells. Each cell has a single pair of electrodes disposed on the solid electrolyte plates. A concentration of a gas specified from a gas to be measured pre-processed based on oxygen pumping by the first electrochemical cell is detected by the second electrochemical cell. A difference in electromotive force between the gas to be measured and a reference gas is detected by the third electrochemical cell. The single pair of electrodes of the third electrochemical cell is disposed on the same surface of one of the solid electrolyte plates, and both of the first and third electrochemical cells are located with different ones of the solid electrolyte plates.

    摘要: A gas sensor includes a measurement gas chamber into which a measurement gas is introduced. An oxygen pumping cell adjusts an oxygen concentration in the measurement gas chamber. An oxygen monitor cell has a monitor electrode exposed in the measurement gas chamber. The monitor electrode has an oxidizing activity with respect to a specific component of the measurement gas. A sensor cell has a sensor electrode exposed in the measurement gas chamber. The sensor electrode has an oxidizing activity with respect to the specific component of the measurement gas which is lower than the oxidizing activity of the monitor electrode. An oxygen-ion current in the oxygen monitor cell is detected. An oxygen-ion current in the sensor cell is detected. A concentration of the specific component of the measurement gas is detected from a relation between the detected oxygen-ion currents in the oxygen monitor cell and the sensor cell.

    摘要: A gas sensor element has a solid electrolyte body of oxygen ionic conductivity, a target gas electrode and a reference gas electrode formed on both surfaces of the solid electrolyte body, respectively, a porous diffusion resistance layer, and a catalyst support trap layer. The porous diffusion resistance layer covers the target gas electrode and through which target gases to be measured are passing. The catalyst support trap layer is formed on the outer surface of the porous diffusion resistance layer and supports noble metal catalyst. In the gas sensor element, the noble metal catalyst is made of platinum, rhodium, palladium supported in the catalyst support trap layer. In particular, an addition amount of palladium in the total amount of the noble metal catalyst is within a range of 2 to 65 wt %.

A sensor cell detects a specific gas concentration in the sample gas chamber. An oxygen pump cell pump cell pumps oxygen gas from or to the sample gas chamber. An introducing passage includes at least one pinhole provided on a surface of the oxygen pump cell for introducing the measuring gas into the sample gas chamber. The surface of the oxygen pump cell faces an outside of the gas sensing element. And, a porous diffusion resistive layer is provided on the surface of the oxygen pump cell so as to cover a portion corresponding to the introducing passage, thus serving to reduce or eliminate the effects of temperature dependency upon gas sensor output for properly sized and machine pinholes.

    摘要: A gas sensor control device is disclosed as including a sensor cell having a negative terminal, to which a current-voltage converter is connected, and a differential amplifier is connected to the current-voltage converter to provide a current measured result applied to a microcomputer. The current-voltage converter has an opposite-to-sensor terminal to which another differential amplifier is connected. A sensor-side terminal of the current-voltage converter and another differential amplifier is electrically connected to each other via an electric pathway having a sensor-current flow disabling pathway in which a switch circuit is provided. Closing the switch circuit allows a potential difference between both terminals of the current-voltage converter is zeroed. With the switch circuit closed, the microcomputer calculates an element current correcting value, while detecting an electromotive force of the sensor cell based on which a failure is determined.

    摘要: A proton conductor has a porous sintered body made of tetravalent metallic oxide. Pyrophosphate as tetravalent metallic compound is formed on surfaces and porous walls of the body, and in the inside of each pore of the body. A method produces the proton conductor by immersing the porous sintered body made of tetravalent metallic oxide into liquid solvent containing phosphate, and heating the porous sintered body at 400° C. over 4 hours. A carbon quantity detecting sensor has the proton conductor, a pair of a measuring electrode and a reference electrode, and an electric power source for supplying a predetermined current or voltage to the electrode pair composed of the measuring and reference electrodes. The measuring electrode is formed on one surface of the proton conductor to face the measuring gas. The reference electrode is formed on the other surface of the proton conductor to be apart from the measuring gas.
