摘要： A sheet storing apparatus which is attachable to a copying machine and a method of controlling it, wherein sheets ejected from the copying machine one after another are stacked in order. A detector for detecting the condition of the sheet transportation is installed in a sheet transporting section thereof, and a control section controls the timing of driving a sheet storing section, a sheet transporting section and a sheet aligning section, based on an output of the detector and data on the speed of the sheet transportation in the copying machine. The control section has a timer for determining the timing of driving each section, and the value of the timer is adjusted in accordance with the data on the speed of the sheet transportation.

摘要： A sheet storing apparatus wherein sheets ejected from a copying machine one after another are stacked in order, and the sheets are supplied to the copying machine again. The apparatus comprises a sheet storing unit wherein sheets are stored, a transporter for transporting sheets to the storing unit, a regulator for preventing sheets supported by a sheet support surface of the storing unit from moving back toward the entrance thereof, a pressure member for pressing each sheet transported to the unit against the support surface and a refeeder for feeding out the stored sheets one by one. Each time a sheet is transported to the unit, the pressure member presses the sheet, whereby the end of the sheet passes through the regulator to be put between the support surface and the regulator. Also, in feeding sheets out of the unit, the pressure member presses the sheet stack against the refeeder. The pressure member has a mechanism for adjusting the pressure on the sheet stack in proportion to the thickness of the stack. Each time a sheet is transported to the unit, the timing of actuating the pressure member is determined, and the position of the pressure member is detected. When it is not detected that the pressure member is in a pressing position within a specified time after a timing signal was generated, a controller judges that a sheet jam has occurred.

摘要： A toner cartridge and a process cartridge, individually, have a shutter which makes sliding movement by opening and closing their toner inlet and toner outlet. When those cartridges are attached to a color printer and fixed together by a fixing lever, the shutters of both cartridges and the fixing lever can move together as one. When they make sliding movement together, both of the shutters are opened and toner supply becomes available. There are thus realized a toner cartridge, a process cartridge, an imaging cartridge, and an image forming apparatus to which those cartridges are attachable, all of which can prevent toner leakage from both a toner housing portion and a process portion and enables even an unaccustomed user to attach each cartridge without making surroundings dirty.

摘要： An image forming apparatus is provided with an automatic document feeder 20 having an original tray 2101, image reading sections 11 and 12 and a printer section P. The apparatus is provided with an insertion sheet detector for discriminating, when a composite original sheet group obtained by inserting between arbitrary pages of a first original sheet group comprised of original sheets of an identical size an insertion sheet of a size identical to that of the original sheets is set on the original tray 2101, whether the sheet fed to the image reading position is the original sheet of the first original sheet group or the insertion sheet. Through the process of forming the print group corresponding to the above composite original sheet group, the image of a second original prepared separately from the composite original sheet group is formed instead of the image of the insertion sheet. This image forming apparatus can automatically reliably form in a short time a print group corresponding to a state in which a certain original sheet group receives another original sheet to be inserted between arbitrary pages of the original sheet group.

摘要： An automatic document feeder (ADF) for feeding a document across a platen is attachable to different types of copying machines which have different copying speeds. The ADF has a detector for detecting the copying speed of the copy machine and a controller for adjusting the document feeding speed of the ADF to the copying speed of the copy machine. The controller also controls the feeding speed of the document at a standard speed in a condition which does not lower copying efficiency and at a higher speed in a condition which lowers copying efficiency. A condition which does not lower copying efficiency is feeding documents other than the last document from the platen. A condition which lowers copying efficiency is feeding the first document to the platen and ejection of the last document from the platen.

The binding member removing device is further provided with discerning means for forming a judgment whether or not the staple S has been removed from the bundle D of document sheets after the operation for removal of the staple S by the removing unit 410.

摘要： A sheet refeeding apparatus which comprises a belt laid between a first and a second shafts, wherein as the belt is wound around the first shaft, copy sheets ejected from a copying machine are wound around the first shaft together with the belt, and as the belt is wound around the second shaft, the sheets wound around the first shaft are fed out thereof back to the copying machine. In collecting sheets, the first shaft is rotated in the same direction as that of the rotation of a photosensitive drum, and a sheet turn-over section is disposed upstream of the belt with respect to sheet conveying direction. Marks are provided for the belt to recognize the position of the belt. An initial position mark is given to the belt, and the mark functions as a standard for a return of the belt to the initial position on a supply of power for the apparatus or on the completion of a sheet refeeding operation. Further, when a sheet is detected being fed out of the belt during the return of the belt to the initial position, it is judged that a paper jam has occurred, and the returning operation is discontinued. The sheet refeeding apparatus comprises an ejection path through which sheets are ejected directly outside of the apparatus, an ejection path cover which is capable of opening and closed, and a switch for requesting coercive ejection of sheets. The switch is operative from the outside only when the cover is in an open state, and when the switch is operated, sheets are ejected onto the cover. Furthermore, the drive of the belt is controlled, when collecting sheets, to reduce the intervals among the sheets, when feeding the sheets out of the collecting section back to the copying machine, to gain the intervals among the sheets and when ejecting the sheets outside of the apparatus, to keep the intervals among the sheets as they were collected. The coercive ejection is allowed only when a sheet which is unnecessary for the sheet refeeding is included.
