    摘要: An aspect of the invention provides an image scanner which can continuously transfer image data of one surface to an external device (image forming apparatus) without performing control such as interruption and resumption of an original scanning operation. The image scanner includes a size detection unit which detects an original size and a determination unit which determines whether or not the image data relating to an original of the size detected by the size detection unit can be stored in a storage unit. The image scanner also includes a control unit. The control unit is configured to set operation in a first mode when the determination unit determines that image data relating to the original can be stored in the storage unit, and the control unit is configured to set operation in a second mode when the determination unit determines that image data relating to the original cannot be stored in the storage unit.

    摘要: A copy machine completes the reading in of the front surfaces of a plurality of documents, before starting reading in of the rear surfaces of the documents, and starts forming images before the reading in of the rear surfaces of all the documents has been completed. After the front surfaces of all the plurality of documents have been read in, the reading of the rear surfaces starts. It takes a period of time from a time T2 to a time T7 to read in image data of a quantity (Q2−Q1) from the rear surface of one document as apparent from a line segment 200a that is indicative of the speed at which the read-in image data is stored. The timing of printing start is offset to ensure that the line segment 200a and the line segment 300b do not intersect with each other. This makes it possible to start printing based on image data for the rear surface of the document while the reading of the subject surface of the subject document. It is possible to prevent the image data from running out regardless of the difference between the storing speed and the read-out speed.

    摘要: In a simultaneous double-sided document reading, this invention controls by software the document reading order to store image data in a single image storage device in the same order as a document page sequence. The copying apparatus has a reader unit, a printer unit, a controller unit and a document supply control unit. The controller unit has a reader memory, an encoder and a decoder. The reader memory temporarily stores at least two pages of uncompressed image data read from the document by the reader unit. The encoder compresses the image data stored in the reader memory. The compressed image memory stores a plurality of pages of image data compressed by the encoder. The decoder analyzes (expands) the compressed image data stored in the compressed image memory and maps it on the page memory.

    摘要: To print on the front side, image data saved in an image memory is read pixel by pixel along a main scanning direction x. Correction data for each block of pixels then is referred to, and the image data is read while being shifted in a sub-scanning direction y by a value of the correction data and is inputted to an exposing device. To print on the rear side, upon reading image data along the main scanning direction x, the image data in the image memory is read along the main scanning direction from a side opposite the one read at the time of printing on the front side. Positive and negative signs of deviation amounts specified by the correction data are reversed and the positions of the pixels to be read are shifted successively in a sub-scanning direction opposite to the one used while printing on the front side.

    摘要: Conventionally, although a technique has been proposed in which image data is compressed and divided so as to be stored in a storing means, no device has been made as to a process which temporarily restores a group of divided and compressed image data and then again compresses and divides the data so as to be stored in the storing means. In contrast, the central processing unit of the present invention is designed so that, when, after the group of the divided and compressed image data, which were divided and temporarily stored in the storing means, have been restored and subjected to the image processing, the resulting data is again compressed and divided so as to be stored in the storing memory, a storing area used by the group of the divided and compressed image data prior to the image processing can also be used, if there are not enough empty areas; thus, it is possible to effectively avoid interruptions to the process due to insufficient empty areas.
