    摘要: An assembly for preventing a flanged finish on the neck portion of a glass container by permitting continuous engagement between the neck ring and the guide ring even though the guide ring is subject to wear and by forcefully maintaining this continuous engagement with a spring urged centering sleeve which extends through a bore in the neck ring to engage the bottom of the guide ring. The neck ring includes a stepped interior annular groove into which a guide ring having an outer stepped annular portion is received. While the total height of the guide ring corresponds to the total height of the groove of the neck ring, the upper surface (70) of the bottom step (72) of the guide ring establishes a selected clearance (Z) with the upper surface (74) of the bottom portion (66) of the neck ring groove so that the continuous engagement can be maintained as the top surface of the guide ring wears.

    摘要: The plunger mechanism is for use in moving a plunger into or out of a mould cavity and has a piston movable in a cylinder with a piston rod projecting from the piston. A plunger can be mounted on the piston rod. A passage passes through the piston and the piston rod and communicates with a chamber in the plunger or with the mould cavity. A tube which can be connected to a source of air under pressure or to a vacuum source passes through the cylinder and enters the passage. The gap between the passage and the tube is sealed by an inwardly-contracting ring with an overlapping joint which makes sealing contact around the tube. A ring of resilient material may encircle the inwardly-contracting ring to seal the gap between the inwardly-contracting ring and the wall of a recess in which it is mounted.

A generally cylindrical passage is defined by the base portion and the projection of the tip portion, the portion of the wall of the passage defined by the base portion being screw-threaded. A screw-threaded member is threadedly received in the passage and serves to retain the tip portion on the base portion by engaging a lip of the projection which projects across a portion of the passage.

    摘要: A glassware forming machine has a blank mold station at which two parisons are formed in mating blank molds and neck molds, the parisons being formed inverted by upwardly moving plungers entering the lower open ends of the parison cavities. A twin plunger mechanism especially suitable for double gob pressing of parisons has the capability for ready removal and replacement of the plunger mechanism for producing glassware on different mold centers. A floating bottom plate is provided on a vertically adjustable foot structure, and the twin plunger mechanism includes upper and lower housing portions readily secured to the bottom plate by locating studs which position the plunger mechanism in the glassware forming machine frame and in accurately indexed relationship to the centerline of the parison cavities at the blank mold station. Cooling air is provided to the plunger through a cooling tube mounted in the lower portion of the plunger mechanism, and this tube is free to move laterally to accomodate slight misalignment between it and the centerline of the plunger.

The bottom of the plunger holder is open and two opposed locking flanges projected inwardly into the opening. An adapter having an upper portion above a support collar receives the plunger holder and the two parts are relatively rotated 90.degree. to locate the locking flanges between the support collar and the bottom of opposed increased diameter portions on the adapter upper portion. Detents releasably retain the two parts at this relative orientation.

    摘要: A plunger assembly is provided wherein the precise centering of the perforated section of the cooling tube within a plunger of an I.S. type glass forming machine is achieved by securing the cooling tube to the plunger. The base of the plunger has a recess which wedgingly receives a plurality of equally spaced wedge elements secured to an annular collar fixed to the cooling tube. The wedge elements are sufficiently tall that they will extend beyond the plunger base, thereby defining exit openings through which plunger cooling air can be discharged.
