摘要： A surgical headlight assembly having a headset structure constructed of lightweight components. The headset structure has adjustable head strap members comprising a generally circular lateral band and a top band. A removable liner is attached to the inside surface of the adjustable headset structure. A lighting assembly which is adjustable with respect to the headset and which uses an adjustable LED is also provided connected to the lateral band. A battery pack is utilized to power the LED.

摘要： A medical applicance of a stationary surgical suction device comprised of an ultramalleable formable tube that may readily be shaped in situ. The tube is comprised of a formable, flexible tubular plastic ultramalleable material, having at least one fluid conveying lumen and includes a parallel oriented malleable member that is disposed within the plastic material so as to be frictionally interrelated to the tubular plastic material. A method of fabricating the lumen includes the steps of furnishing a plastic tubing having at least a pair of lumens, furnishing an elongated malleable member of cross-section complementary to that of one of the lumens and of a size in excess of the size of the lumen, dilating the lumen to allow insertion of the malleable member into the lumen and allowing the lumen to shrink onto the malleable member to effect a frictional engagement with the lumen. The applicance fabricated by the method may be used in surgical retracting, suction or irrigation procedures, as a shunt for fluid vessels or for the drainage of a cavity.

摘要： A method for treating a brain tumor includes providing a surgical instrument having an inner member and an outer member. The outer member has a distal region forming a cutting window. The inner member is rotatably received within the outer member, and has a cutting tip that is exposed at the window. The cutting tip and the distal region of the outer member combine to define a cutting implement. An opening is created through the patient's skull to provide access to a brain tumor target site. The cutting implement is delivered through the opening to the target site. The cutting tip is placed into contact with the tumor and operated to cut the tumor. The target site is selectively aspirated to remove cut tumor tissue.

摘要： A surgical instrument comprises an instrument head and an instrument handle. The instrument head has a proximal end, a distal end, a head static part at the proximal end, a reciprocative part generally at the proximal end, and a moveable distal part at the distal end. The reciprocative part is operatively connected to the moveable distal part so that movement of the reciprocative part between forward and rearward positions causes movement of the moveable distal part between first and second positions. The instrument handle has a handle body attachable to the head static part of the instrument head, a handle plunger configured for reciprocating relative to the handle body generally along the instrument axis, and a lever arm. The handle plunger is operatively engageable with the reciprocative part of the instrument head when the head static part is attached to the handle body. Movement of the handle plunger between forward and rearward positions causes movement of the reciprocative part of the instrument head between its forward and rearward positions. The lever arm is connected to the handle body is engaged and laterally reciprocated by a hand of a surgeon. It is operatively connected to the handle plunger for moving the handle plunger between its forward and rearward positions as the lever arm is moved between inward and outward positions. The instrument handle is configured so that the lateral movement of the lever arm is in a plane spaced below the handle plunger to provide a forward line of sight generally along the instrument axis to the distal end of the instrument head as viewed from behind the handle plunger for permitting the surgeon's hand to reciprocate the lever arm without blocking the line of sight.

摘要： A torsional dissection tip and method of use comprising a longitudinal-torsional resonator having a cutting surface at a distal end with cutting teeth of a pitch optimized to the torsional or longitudinal displacement of the distal tip. The present art apparatus and method of use utilizes uniquely designed cutting surface geometries with the aforesaid pitch attributes for surgical applications. Utilization of the present art torsional dissection tip allows a surgeon to easily remove hard tissues such as bone without moving the present art instrument to any site except that which is to be dissected.
