    摘要: An OFDM receiver operates in a high-throughput mode or an increased-range mode. The receiver includes FFT circuitry to generate frequency domain symbol-modulated subcarriers for a set of OFDM subcarriers. During the increased-range mode, data is received on a single subchannel and the FFT circuitry generates frequency domain symbol-modulated subcarriers for a set of OFDM subcarriers associated with the single subchannel. During the high-throughput mode, data is received on each subchannel of a plurality of subchannels and the FFT circuitry generates frequency domain symbol-modulated subcarriers for a different one of the subchannels. The OFDM receiver may operate in accordance with one of the IEEE 802.11 standards.

    摘要: A variable bandwidth OFDM receiver and methods for receiving OFDM signals of different bandwidths are generally disclosed herein. The variable bandwidth OFDM receiver may be configured to receive signals over wider bandwidths by processing a resource block of subcarriers comprising a greater number of subcarriers, and receive signals over narrower bandwidths by processing a resource block of subcarriers comprising a lesser number of subcarriers. The resource blocks have a number of OFDM symbols in a time dimension to define a time slot, and each wherein the resource block comprises a minimum number of subcarriers for a narrowest bandwidth for a predetermined minimum bandwidth reception and a predetermined maximum number of subcarriers for a maximum bandwidth reception. In some embodiments, the variable bandwidth receiver may operate in accordance with an 3GPP LTE E-UTRAN standard.

    摘要: A reconfigurable multichannel receiver may selectively operate in increased throughput modes and/or increased range modes. In some embodiments, the receiver may select two or more antennas from a plurality of spatially diverse antennas to receive more than one subchannel of a wideband orthogonal frequency division multiplexed (OFDM) channel. Maximum-ratio combining may be performed on corresponding symbol-modulated subcarriers from the two or more antennas, and a single OFDM symbol may be generated from contributions from the subchannels received by the two or more antennas. In other embodiments, more than one subchannel of a wideband OFDM channel may be received through a single antenna selected from a plurality of spatially diverse antennas. In other embodiments, a single subchannel may be received by a plurality of spatially diverse antennas and maximum-ratio combining may be performed on corresponding symbol-modulated subcarriers received by the antennas.

    摘要: A frame format provides for wideband wireless local area network communications and informs narrower-band communication units when the channels are occupied by wider-band communication units. In some embodiments, the frame format includes a channelization field identifying channels that are used for communicating subsequent wideband fields of a packet, and a wideband-header field communicated on the identified channels. The wideband-header field may identify sub-fields that may be present in the wideband-header field, and may identify the presence of a wideband-data field. A long-compatibility field may be present that provides protection at the MAC level. The long-compatibility field may transport MAC frames that may include medium-reservation information compatible with narrower-band communication units.

    摘要: Embodiments of a high-throughput (HT) communication station (STA) and method for communicating over a primary and a secondary channel are generally described herein. In some embodiments, the high-throughput (HT) communication station (STA) comprises a physical layer (PHY) and a media-access control (MAC) layer to provide a data unit to the physical layer. The PHY layer may be configured to transmit a packet that includes the data unit over a channel bandwidth comprising a first channel and an additional channel in accordance with an OFDM communication technique. The packet may have a frame structure that includes a channel bandwidth parameter to indicate the channel bandwidth used, a modulation and coding parameter to indicate a modulation and coding scheme of the packet as transmitted over the channel bandwidth.
