    摘要: A system and method are provided that allow WiGig protocol adaptation layers (PALs) to operate differently from the proposed WiGig standard on top of an Internet protocol (IP) layer in order to enhance routing options for communication of the data traffic between a transmitting (source) device and a receiving (sink) device. A layering architecture is provided that allows WiGig PALs, such as WDE, to operate on top of an IP layer. A signaling mechanism is also provided that allows a negotiation, or at least an indication, of the underlying layering structure for specific data communications. Recognizing that the next generation wireless display requires technology such as WiGig WDE to support the driving demand for a cable replacement user experience and richer wireless display use cases, this PAL over IP architecture optimizes alignment of the WiGig data communication technology with other data communication technologies.

    摘要: A variable bandwidth OFDM receiver and methods for receiving OFDM signals of different bandwidths are generally disclosed herein. The variable bandwidth OFDM receiver may be configured to receive signals over wider bandwidths by processing a resource block of subcarriers comprising a greater number of subcarriers, and receive signals over narrower bandwidths by processing a resource block of subcarriers comprising a lesser number of subcarriers. The resource blocks have a number of OFDM symbols in a time dimension to define a time slot, and each wherein the resource block comprises a minimum number of subcarriers for a narrowest bandwidth for a predetermined minimum bandwidth reception and a predetermined maximum number of subcarriers for a maximum bandwidth reception. In some embodiments, the variable bandwidth receiver may operate in accordance with an 3GPP LTE E-UTRAN standard.

    摘要: A MIMO transmitter and method for transmitting a group of sequential OFDM symbols on a downlink channel using a plurality of antennas is disclosed herein. Groups of OFDM subcarriers are individually modulated in accordance with spatial-frequency subcarrier modulation assignments to generate groups of symbol-modulated subcarriers, corresponding symbol-modulated subcarriers are combined for transmission on each of a plurality of spatial channels, and beamforming is performed on the combined symbol-modulated subcarriers for transmission over the spatial channels. The channel comprises a plurality of the groups of the OFDM subcarriers and the OFDM subcarriers within each group of subcarriers and within each group of sequential OFDM symbols have the same spatial-frequency subcarrier modulation assignments. The spatial-frequency subcarrier modulation assignments for each group are determined based on feedback by a receiver, which is determined from spatial channel characteristics of the spatial channels.

    摘要: A multi-antenna transmitter includes an adaptive bit interleaver for orthogonal frequency division multiplexed (OFDM) communications. The adaptive bit interleaver permutes a variable number of coded bits per OFDM symbol (Ncbps). The variable number of coded bits is calculated based on individual subcarrier modulation assignments for orthogonal subcarriers. The interleaver matrix size may be based on the variable number of coded bits per OFDM symbol and the number of subchannels. The interleaver may add padding bits to the interleaver matrix to fill any remaining positions, and after performing an interleaving operation, the interleaver may prune the padding bits to provide a sequence of interleaved bits for subsequent modulation on the orthogonal subcarriers and transmission by more than one antenna. The transmitter may transmit the OFDM symbol in accordance with an IEEE 802.16 standard.

Additionally, a detection scheme may detect whether a transmitted power control scheme according to an embodiment of the invention is used by stations of the communication system. The allocation of transmission power may be also used to transmit additional service information through channels.
