Abstract: A speech-processing system may provide access to one or more skills via spoken commands and/or responses in the form of synthesized speech. The system may be capable of keeping one or more skills active in the background while a user interacts (e.g., provides inputs to and/or receives outputs from) with a skill running in the foreground. A background skill may receive some trigger data, and determine to request the system to return the background skill to the foreground to, for example, request a user input regarding an action previously requested by the user. In some cases, the user may invoke a background skill to continue a previous interaction. The system may return the background skill to the foreground. The resumed skill may continue a previous interaction to, for example, to query the user for instructions, provide an update or alert, or continue a previous output.

Abstract: Devices and techniques are generally described for voice targeting of devices using content type. In various examples, a first natural language input comprising a first request to perform a first action related to first content may be received. A natural language understanding component may be used to determine first intent data representing a semantic interpretation of the first request, where the first intent data is effective to cause a first skill to perform the first action. A named entity recognition component may be used to determine first slot data included in the first request. The first slot data may identify the first content. First task data associated with the first content may be determined. The first task data may associate the first content with playback on a first device. First instructions effective to cause the first device to perform the first action may be sent to the first device.

Abstract: Systems and methods allow for floor plan generation for device visualization and use. For example, image data may be utilized to segment a building from non-building elements in an image, and the outline of the building may be utilized to generate a floor plan of the building. A user interface may be generated to present the floor plan and allow for placement of representations of walls, doors, windows, and electronic devices within the floor plan. Placement of these elements may be performed in response to input from a user and/or may be performed automatically utilizing naming indicators, device-affinity data, historical usage data, signal-strength data, etc. Once placed, the device representations may be utilized to operate the devices and display related information, such as alerts.
