Abstract:
A system and process are disclosed for providing users with page previews during page loading events, such that the delay experienced before the display of page content is reduced. The previews may include screenshots of the pages or of portions thereof, and may be generated periodically and cached by the system for delivery to user devices. The process of generating and delivering the previews via the Internet or some other network may be implemented partly or wholly within an intermediary system that sits logically between the user devices and content servers. The process may be used with existing browsers without the need for any browser modifications, or may be used with a “preview-aware” browser that includes special program code for providing page previews.
Abstract:
A service provider system may include an application fulfillment platform that delivers desktop applications to end users (e.g., to physical computing devices or virtual desktop instances). An application delivery agent installed on an end user's device may send requests to access platform control plane services on behalf of the agent or the end user (along with security credentials) and may retrieve messages directed to the device from a queue on the platform. Messages may be placed in the queue by control plane services in response to agent requests. Messages may include instructions for the agent to perform installing, uninstalling, updating, or reinstalling a virtualized desktop application package on the device. The agent may request and retrieve (from the queue) information about the intended (or assumed) installation state of applications on the device, compare it to locally stored information about the actual state, and initiate corrective action, if needed.

Abstract:
Technologies for performing hybrid rendering of web pages are described in which some web page resources are rendered by a server to create processed layers (e.g., composited layers) and other web page resources are left in a format that can be locally rendered at the client. For example, a server can split web page resources into a first part and a second part. The first part can be rendered down to processed layers and placeholder layers can be created representing the second part. The processed layers, the placeholder layers, and the second part of the web page resources can be sent to the client. The client can render the second part of the web page resources and merge them with the processed layers. The client can display the web page using the merged layers. The client can update the web page by locally re-rendering the second part of the web page resources.

Abstract:
Techniques and solutions for providing a cloud browse service are described. For example, a client can request a web page. In response to the request, the client can receive a processed layer tree representing the web page. The processed layer tree can be created by a server environment (e.g., by creating an original DOM from obtained HTML and associated web page resources for the web page and creating the processed layers from the original DOM). The client can create a simplified DOM from the received processed layers and display the web page using the simplified DOM. Techniques and solutions for providing a browser as a service are described. For example, a web browser component can receive a processed layer tree representing a web page, create a simplified DOM, and display the web page.
