The disclosure provides apparatus and method for estimating one or more electrical properties downhole. The apparatus includes a metallic member that has a longitudinal axis and a radial axis, at least two groups of slots formed in the metallic member, each group of slots having at lest two rows of slots, each row of slots containing at least one slot, and an electrical conductor placed over the rows of slots at an angle to the radial axis of the metallic member to form an antenna of a tool for use in a wellbore for estimating the electrical properties downhole. An apparatus for performing nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) measurements of a material of interest includes an NMR tool and a processor. The NMR tool includes a transmitter antenna; a transmitter coupled to the transmitter antenna; and a receiver antenna configured to receive NMR signals in response to transmitted pulses of electromagnetic energy transmitted by the transmitter antenna. The NMR signals include at least a first signal and a second signal of a phase-alternated group of signals. The processor is configured to receive the NMR signals; receive a first system gain related to the first signal and a second system gain related to the second signal, each system gain being related to a system comprising the NMR tool and the material of interest; and calibrate the NMR signals using the first system gain and the second system gain.

Apparatus, methods and computer programs disclosed herein, in one aspect, estimate a temperature of a selected region of an earth formation using a virgin formation temperature of the earth formation, a downhole fluid temperature measured over time, an elapsed time between drilling proximate the selected region and making of a formation evaluation measurement of the selected region, an estimate of thermal conductivity of the earth formation, and a heat capacity of the earth formation. In another aspect, the apparatus, methods and computer programs utilize the estimated temperature and the formation evaluation measurement to estimate a property of interest of the selected region.
