    摘要： The invention relates to a bar code reading device of the type having an imaging assembly including a two dimensional image sensor and which may be moved between varying positions, orientations and angles relative to a substrate. In one embodiment a bar code reading device can be used to obtain an area electronic representation of a substrate including bar code indicia and a signature, and can output an area representation including a representation of a signature. In another embodiment, the bar code reading device can process and output a processed area electronic representation to an output destination. In one embodiment an output destination to which a bar code reading device outputs a processed area electronic representation is a display.

In a picture taking mode, the reader captures and outputs a frame of image data without attempting to decode a decodable symbol in the frame. In the decode mode, the reader captures a frame of image data and attempts to decode a decodable symbol represented in the frame. The reader may have a decode mode in which light from an aiming light source is received by an image sensor.

    摘要： In the present invention, an optical reader is made to commence image capture and decoding when a trigger of the reader is pulled, and to continuously attempt to decode symbols in captured image data until the time the trigger is released. Despite continuously attempting to decode symbols during the entire period in which a trigger is actuated, a reader according to the invention is made so as not to output data messages pertaining to the same symbol more than once during one trigger-actuation period. To this end, a reader operating according to the invention maintains a list of identification strings identifying all symbols which have been successfully decoded since the time the trigger was pulled. When symbols in image data are decoded, identification strings for those symbols are determined and then compared to identification strings previously written to the list. If an identification string for a successfully decoded symbol is not on the list, the reader outputs a data message for the symbol, and adds the identification string to the identification string list.
