Abstract:
Method for treating unpackaged biological liquids, particularly milk or its derivatives, having a microbacterial and spore content, comprising the following operative steps: a) separating the biological liquid into a fatty fraction having a higher concentration of fatty matter and a non-fatty fraction having a lower concentration of fatty matter compared to the initial concentration; b) heat treating the non-fatty fraction; c) cooling the non-fatty fraction to a temperature close to the storage temperature (Tc); d) preheating the fatty fraction to a predefined temperature (Ts); irradiating the fatty fraction with electromagnetic radiation for a predefined time (tirr); f) cooling the fatty fraction to a temperature close to the storage temperature (Tc); g) mixing the individually treated fractions so as to reconstitute said biological liquid. The electromagnetic radiation is in the range of radio-frequencies having frequencies of less than 1 GHz.
Abstract:
A method for the continuous wet stretching of industrial hides and other similar products comprises the following steps: a) removal of uniformly wetted hides following a treatment with liquids, such as tanning, re-tanning or the like, b) partial pre-drying of the wetted hides so as to reduce their residual relative moisture to a value of between 35% and 65%, c) stretching of the moist hides by means of localized mechanical stresses applied in directions which are substantially perpendicular to the plane of lie of the hides so as to achieve a predetermined increase in surface area, d) drying of the stretched hides until they have a residual relative moisture of between 7% and 30% so as to stabilize and thermally fix the stretched hides. The hides are kept in substantially constant relative humidity conditions with the mechanical stresses distributed uniformly over the entire surface area of the hides.
Abstract:
A machine for the conditioning of laminar flexible products such as industrial hides and skins, including at least one conditioning unit crossed by the products to be processed, blowers for blowing and extracting air directed toward products, and a series of air jets blowing simultaneously on both sides of the products under treatment in a transverse direction with respect to the advancement direction of the products. The threads of each pair are placed on opposite sides and in contact with the products to support and transfer them along the path leaving their side surfaces substantially free. As an alternative, the advancement means are formed by pairs of endless belts in mutually facing relationship to firmly hold the products while permitting passage of blown air.

The servomechanism (16) consists of a gearmotor which is connected to the threaded posts (11) by virtue of a toothed belt and a chain.
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for the continuous sterilization of a non-packaged biological liquid, particularly milk and its byproducts, containing bacterial and sporal loads, including the steps of a) gradually preheating the liquid to a preheating temperature proximate to a maximum temperature of the process; b) irradiating the liquid with an electromagnetic field with a frequency of less than 1 GHz so as to heat the product to the maximum temperature of the process; and c) rapidly cooling the liquid to a temperature of approximately 15.degree. before packaging. The preheating temperature attained during the preheating step a) is between 90.degree. C. and 140.degree. C. and the maximum temperature reached during the irradiation step b) is about 165.degree. C. with a thermal gradient between about 0.1.degree. C./s and 10.degree. C./s, so as to provide a high temperature heating of the liquid while preventing destruction or alteration of the active principles and organoleptic properties of the liquid.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an apparatus for applying oscillating magnetic fields, particularly for treating liquid, pasty, semi-solid or granular products, to a method of use of such apparatus, and to a system incorporating it. The apparatus comprises at least one pipe of an electrically insulating material for conveying the products to be treated, at least one plurality of electrodes around the periphery of the pipe, and means for generating one high frequency oscillating electric voltage. Each of the electrodes has a substantially annular shape, with an inner surface having a minimum radial distance from the outer cylindrical surface of the at least one pipe, which is sufficient to prevent electric currents from passing to the product to be treated. The inner surface has at least one substantially conical edge with a predetermined conicity angle to allow use of relatively high voltages with no risk of discharges to air.
Abstract:
A stabilised high vacuum drying installation for industrial hides and similar products includes a plurality of drying beds (2, 2′, 2″) with heating platforms (3, 3′, 3″) and hermetic covers (4, 4′, 4″), vacuum means (7) connected to the drying beds to extract vapours coming from the hides and to reduce the pressure to minimum working values (Pi), a circuit with valve means (10, 10′, 10″; 11, 11′, 11″) to selectively connect the drying beds to the vacuum means. The valve means include, downstream of every drying bed, at least one cutoff valve (10, 10′, 10″) for selectively connecting such bed, initially at atmospheric pressure, to the vacuum means (7), and at least one check valve (11, 11′, 11″) for isolating automatically the remaining beds already at working pressure so as to avoid pressure oscillations in their interior. The vacuum means (7) include a primary vacuum pump (8) suitable to reduce the pressure in the circuit to a predetermined value (Ps) superior to the working minimum value (Pi) and a secondary vacuum pump (9) suitable to co-operate with the primary vacuum pump (8) to reduce the pressure in the circuit to the minimum working value (Pi).
